| Mandala Satori. After pythium problems, and a smidgen of heat-stress - she's coming on nicely at 5/6 weeks. The root-rot drove the pH up far too much, I got lock-out, and then deficiencies. The burn in the pics is from that period in her life. It was a major disaster that was narrowly avoided by the skin of my teeth. The pythium is still present in the system, but i'm keeping it at bay with daily treatments of h2o2, frozen soda bottles, and extra airstones. Hoping that the yield won't suffer too much..... ![]() Waiting patiently for the main cola to fatten up though. The fan leaves are just starting to turn yellow, so i'm expecting the buds to fatten up over the next couple of weeks, but I've been told that it's not really until the last 3 weeks that she'll really pack on the beef.... we'll see... She's also a really light feeder - the EC has not went above 1.0 for the duration of the grow. Well, it did, but she didn't like it. Course, she's in a bubbler as well, and EC values will be lower anyway.

| Dunno yet Hip. Not tried it yet. The smell has developed nicely over the last few weeks though. Kinda 'minty' at first, but with a definite citrus/fruity undertone. Really looking forward to smoking her.

| Yeh - she's been knocking out copious amounts of resin since the 3rd week of flower. I've got a cutting from her doing really well in coco right now as well - 'bout a foot tall, but it looks like i'm gonna have to stop growing for a while after this run, so I need to get rid of her. It's a damn shame, as I think that she'd do really well topped. I was looking forward to a full Satori run next time. Ho-hum. ![]()

| Funny you say that - my mate actually told me to do that last week, but this summer in my area is being a bit weird with rain etc. Might be an idea....

| Can't really say about the heat-resistance. My top temp is 83F, but the room usually sticks to around 78F-80F. Heard good things mind you, but I ain't never seen it myself. Supposedly has good resistance to mites and pests as well, but again I can't comment as I've been lucky in both regards.

| Maybe you got yourself a bad phenotype. How many seeds did you germinate before you found your mother? I'm interested to hear that these are indeed light feeders. Do you think this could cause problems if grown together with other strains hydroponically? |

| I wouldn't say I got a bad pheno C.Anon - it's simply that my temps were never high enough to really test the heat-resistance of the plant, so I can't make a judgement call either way. As for the feeding - both my Skunk and NL plants topped out at a max EC of 1.4, whereas the Satori's max EC was 1.0! The landrace genes in these plants really make them good at nute uptake. IONIC veg nutes are quite low on nitrogen as well I think, as i've seen plants suffer serious N deficiencies really early on in flowering. Too early to be honest - but the Satori is only starting to yellow now after about 6-7 weeks. This suggests to me that the plant is not only good at nute uptake, but also the storing of the nutes in the fan-leaves. It's gotta be the landrace genes - these plants are used to harsh environments with little nutrient availability in the soil high in the nepalese mountains. I wouldn't really recommend running her in Hydro with other plants if you are using an external res in a flood/drain setup for example. There is too much chance of burning the shit out of her unless you can find other strains that are as light feeders as Mandala stock, but if you are doing seperate pots in a coco grow or bubblers like me, there is no reason why you can't adjust the nutes to suit each plant's feeding requirements. Pain in the ass, but worth it I reckon. Also - I popped 5 seeds, got a mutant, a male, and 3 females. The one flowering now was the 'stockiest' most Indica looking plant, and kinda looks like a spear. According to Mandala Mike's recommendations, the spear phenotype is the one to keep. The other 2 went to good homes. This is supposed to be the best yeilder as well, but we'll see. I would say that if topped though, she'd do really well. I supercropped her in veg to let the side branching catch up a bit, but it's only made a bit of an impact. The side-branching is holding nice, dense buds, but if i'd have done it 2 or 3 times, i'm sure that it would have increased the yield drastically. As it is, the main cola is too far above the side-branching for the yield to be significantly increased. Though it is a 14'' cola! Nice to look at. Hope i've helped mate.

| Harvest day - phase 1. Had to cut the Skunk early cos she hermied. This is just the top + a few side branches. The top was bent over to control her height, so most of the side branching was at the same height as the main cola thus: ![]() Basically, I cut the canopy - now i'm gonna let the lower buds ripen some over the next week and i'll harvest her next weekend along with the Satori main cola. I'm sure she'd easily have went another 2 weeks, but i'm not tolerating any pollen in the room.....
