If something looks too good to be true,Chances are,It Is.Yes the prices are great,,,"there's the hook".OOOOooo...only one day left,,and it is only $10.00,,,"there is the line".....purchase made...your sunk....Ya,def not something I would purchase from my home,sent to my home,by me with any of my cards.But there are some great deals on that site,roamed around for like 10 mins or so through the electronics.But I doubt I would buy Anything from an online police auction.

I good friend of mine has bought alot of lights from there and has a huge garden, one of the biggest I have ever seen and hasn't had a problem one. I think pot definitely makes people paranoid though.

But be my gueast and run right down to the hydro store, they never watch those places....

Sarcasm eh....Ya we know they watch those places too,but at least you can control your purchase a little,,,,lot more when you buy from a shop,,,You know where it came from for one.You now have the option to bring your newly purchased item to a DIFFERENT location.Let it cool down a bit,then one night grab your new item and bring er on home....Or..if you actually know a GOOD hydroponic store,You have the owner deliver your product to an undisclosed location and safely bring your item home that way...And as for your friend...That is awesome he has the best grow opp you have ever seen,and it is defiantly a bonus he has not been raided,,,YET...I hope he NEVER does either...But myself being a lot more cautious then your friend when it comes to those kind of purchases,I WOULD STAY AWAY.No matter how cheap there gear is...It is not worth taking the chance on MY ASS becoming BUBBAS ASS.Thanks Any Way.

Yeah for $250 for a 400 watt halide. Plus if you're under investigation already then none of the mcgyver shit matters much anyway. I live right next to a hydro store and I wouldn't buy a light from that blood sucker if it was the last place to buy a light on the planet. He;s selling the exact same bulb that home depot sells for $28, for $79.99!! My state just legalized medical marijuana so I am not too worried about a few plants. I was just posting a good source for people to buy a light from that is fair. Also, it would be just as easy to have the light delivered to an un-disclosed location by ups. I am sorry but Police Auction...and...Hydroponics are not two words that I see myself repeating too many times.

As for your state legalizing for medical use,,,,Do YOU have a prescription?
If not you still have to worry.Or at the very least be cautious,or somewhat smart about where you get your gear from. Honestly though,,,the best way to get your gear is to go to a few shops a few time's.Don't buy shit,just look,ask questions,and get to know the owners.The decide which store to purchase from.Then ask the owner if there is a way he can meet you at a time and place.Have him bring it home with him,since it is part of his business,it is not unusual for a lot of these store owners to grow vegetables at there own homes.I know the old guy I get my gear from does.He grows the best mini tomatoes I have ever seen.And most/not all will have no problem accommodating your needs.I know on my last trip into the store spending as much cash as I did,if the owner was not going to accommodate me,I had a list of others that would gladly pack there cube van and meet me where ever I asked them too.And I could do this in My car,and not put any one in danger but myself.Now if your only going for a small item like a light bulb,or some nutes....whatever...no need for delivery..but lights,ballasts,hoods,rails,light movers,buckets,soil,nutrients,clone trays,and so on and so on and so on,,Ya delivery all the way....NOT UPS..

IMO If I decided to order from them, I would buy it under a different name and have it sent to an adress other then where you grow. But I would/will not order from them because I do not want used lights that may not even work or you have to spend the time re-wiring it wich could end up being a fire hazard if you dont know what you are doing.

But what about ebay? They have decent priced 400+ watt lights with ballast for $150+. Brand new and they offer a warranty I know they are not the best on the market but wont they work for a newbie light?

I am using the big cfl's and I build my own hoods anyway. I was just trying to help out. I know a guy that has been buying lights from that site and having alot of success. I wouldn't just send everybody there if I thought it was some bullshit, that's offensive to me.

It'd be kind of cool to buy up a bunch and turn them on in my basement where my orchids would be thriving. Then you'll know soon enough if they hid a GPS tag on the light/ballast or of they followed you to the address and illegally used FLIR. You'll get your door kicked in, but after raising hell at city hall and continuing to grow orchids (maybe having your door kicked in a second time even), eventually they will know you as the crazy orchid grower who likes to entice LEO into illegal searches so he can sue the department every time. Flaunt it for three years or so; spin that meter as fast as she'll go! When you are finally nothing more than the eccentric local annoyance, sell those orchids and grow the hell out of some bud, still spinning the meter as before.

I have since found that craigslist is almost a better option, big factories and sit are getting tax breaks to switch to fluoros so they are selling there metal halides dirt cheap, they work great and last forever, you have to do a little work with them but it's not bad. Hang them vertically with no reflector, strong fan on them and you're good to go.

I thought those prices were pretty good.
Lamp temps are offered in 3500K, 4100K, and 5000K.

If you look over at Sylvania lighting for bulbs, they have some very high lumen output lamps in the 3500K scale which put out more lumens than a stock bulb. If you buy by the case lot, you'll get a better deal on lamps.

A standard ballast can't push these lamps very well but the HO (high output) ballasts in these fixtures can do it easily.

You are paying rock-bottom dollar for some poor individual's possessions. Let the police use their gear to start their own operation. I'll seek other sources for equipment.

joluvs2gro Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 299	I have since found that craigslist is almost a better option, big factories and sit are getting tax breaks to switch to fluoros so they are selling there metal halides dirt cheap, they work great and last forever, you have to do a little work with them but it's not bad. Hang them vertically with no reflector, strong fan on them and you're good to go.
