![]() | My Hazy girl
Couple of years ago an old guy running a growshop around the block here, gave me a few haze seeds 'just for fun'. Having been occupied with all sorts of non and less important stuff, I finally came around two germinating two of them and here are some shots of my first lady: I made the mistake to germinate them in Amazonian remix soil mix which is perfect for coca but turned out to be not so good for Cannabis. She had been over a month in a stalled growth, not doing anything. I decided to get rid of her and get some new seeds when I noticed the incredible long root coming out from under the pot. It seemd she was desperate for water. I then decided to mix one part vermiculite with two parts of standard potting soil and carefully I transfered her to a new pot. After a few days she was looking as the first picture. After two weeks under some fluo's, she looks like the second picture. I just moved her outside today |

Best of luck and please keep us posted. I know someone who has some Super Haze ( super skunk x haze?) seed and I would like to see how your methods work before they get planted. You wil get more responses on your thread here in Grassroots where the horticultural experts are. |

![]() | update
It's been over two weeks since last update so I guess it's time. She's really doing great and looking completely healthy and she's growing like crazy. She also makes for a really nice companion while smoking on the balcony. |

![]() | Flowering
Well it's been some time and what I was afraid of turned out to be true: I live on a first story appartment and about 30ft from my balcony, is a street lantern. She remained basically in growth cycle so I decided a backup plan which involved building a growing cabinet at a trusted friends house, take five cuttings, flower them indoors and share the yield. The plant is so abundantly growing, that it's not even visible where the cuttings where taken except if you look for it. I decided to keep the plant on the balcony as a backup would the cuttings decide not to root, I could try that route again. Trying to stay within my countries policy of five plants max, I ddn't want to take lots of cuttings at once and possibly incriminate myself. But what do you now, buds started to develop on the branches of the plant which where hidden from the street lantern. They looked tiny at first but started to develop really nice and checking with my 30x microscope tells me that the potency is going to be quite nice. Lot's of big trichomes, guessing 50/50 clear/cloudy. From then on I started to cover the plant using windscreens and towels at night to hide as much as possible from the lantern. Now there are buds on almost all parts of the plants except the main cola. Next year I plan to build a cabinet on the balcony which enables me to completely hide the plant from light during night hours to avoid this happening again. That way it will also be easier to get her into flowering earlier in the season which I am told really helps in my country to avoid bud rot. Some pics: the entire plant, the main cola (no bud ), some of the nice side cola's and one of the newly developing buds since I startedto hide her from the street lantern (the one without any brown hairs).

![]() | Moved inside
Since temps where dropping to as low as 10F during daytime outside, I decide to take my girl inside because it looks like she needs another few weeks to complete and the cold and moisture don't really help. The problem is, I don't have the space inside for HPS lights so I had to improvise. I ordered a 90W LED light with 10% blue and 90% red. It was advertised as an equivalent to a 400W HPS but I am pretty sure that's bullshit. If it gives me 1/3 of what a HPS would give, I am happy tho. Currently I am lighting my girl with 2 x 18W Fluos (color ww 827) and three 25W CFL's of the same color. When the LED light arrives, I will just add it to the room and see how it goes and will post some pics. One pic of a developing bud: . |

Good luck with your gal, is that the first pot you grew? I personally do not like using much vermiculite in the soil. It holds water too well and can encourage mold and stem rot. I used potting soil with perlite to improve drainage. Of course then i went to hydro but that's another story. Haze is mostly sativa and your gal looks like it. Wait until you get mostly red hairs before you harvest or you will be missing out on a lot. Some people wait until it's about 90% red hairs or more to get the maximum bud growth. But it's hard to wait, isn't it? |

I did a couple of nice grows back in '94 with 2 400W HPS lamps but it's been years ago. Back then it was more of a money making initiative but now I just want to grow a little to provide my own smoke. About verm in the soil, I usually let the soil dry out good before I water again. I learned about overwatering the hard way by loosing some Salvia and Coca plants last year ![]() I'm using a cheap 30x microscope to check for harvest time. This way I can get a feeling about the maturity of the trichomes and decide the moment of harvest based on that. It's hard to wait on one hand, on the other hand it will really be the effort to wait. Most trichomes are still transparent at the moment. Last edited by Dutchdude; 10-25-09 at 06:08. Reason: added some pics

![]() | Interesting problems
Still going this one. Yesterday I harvested part of the plant that was already weeks into flowering before the rest followed. Because I didn't want to flush out the nutes while the bigger part of the plant was still fully producing flowers, I decided to try out water cure on someone's advice. Also when I took my plant inside, I took more inside than I wished for, spider mites where seriously starting to take over my plant. I catched them before they started to web the buds because since last thrips infestation, I inspect several leaves with a 30x microscope on a daily basis. Attached picture is just one of the many eggs I found. When I discovered the mites I went out and got a somewhat friendly pesticide specifically for spider mites on fruit or vegetables. I've treated the plant four days ago for the first time, then agan today. I will keep monitoring the plant to keep it under control and I hope to harvest the rest in three weeks without the need of using more of this stuff. Smoke report on the water cured buds in a week or so ![]() Some pics of buds I just harvested as well |

Neem Oil works wonders on mites aswell as all sorts of other unfriendly insects. It's a really good preventative aswell as a cure Although it's pretty late in flowering (it's got a pretty strong smell) But it is natural, so beats yuk-icides Hope the buggers go away for ya ![]() p.s the plants looking mighty fine, and what an eye to catch em so damn early!

The reason I was (probably) in time is that I lost 40 plants once to spider mites because of (self inflicted) ingnorance and this summer, I lost two morning glories, three Salvia, two coca plants to thrips, so I have become kind of paranoid towards my garden now ![]() Still no sight of webbing on the buds. I cut some leaves today and checked for bugs, found a few dead ones and almost no eggs anymore. The eggs I found where brownish discolored and didn't look to healthy. Managed to make a picture of one of the corpses, I stared at for two minutes before I concluded it really was dead ![]() For next grow I am still deciding on the strain. I made a few good cuttings from the plant from this grow but I also germinated a feminized Arjans Haze #1 which looks like it really wants to grow.
