Build your own CFL reflector (very nice for less than $30)!

Check this link out, everything came to less than $29, and was purchased at the local hardware store. It doesn't even include any items that could be considered sketchy ! The angle of the pipe should probably be adjusted but its a great idea.

Good find... SWINJD made a reflector like that one time for an HPS. Worked like a chizzamp. CFL's aren't bad for veg, but will give you spindly buds if ya fruit with em.

Have you ever done it? I have and it worked out GREAT. You just have to make sure that you have enough light to penetrate the canopy. Growing with 84 watts isn't going to give much result if you use a HID or fluorescent. The CFL definitely wins out in the spectrum category, since the color radiation is spread out over a curve instead of just one specific temperature like HID. They also produce far less heat, so you dont have to have a crazy ventilation set up, usually just fans will work. I have grown the same plant in the same conditions, same soil, under cfl and hps/mh combo and the quality was pretty much the same, only difference was the leaves had far more trichomes on the cfl one. (possibly because the broader color spectrum causes a higher amount of transpiration and maybe more need for oils to regulate this)
