![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Light question
So this fella I know from work is a ganj grower.. Apparently he's moving to Georgia in a week or something Offered to sell me a ballast and another light w/ a reflector. Anyways the ballast is pretty gangster looking. No shell, just a capacitor looking dealio w/ giant ?magnets? around it? It's marked 400w Metal Hallide ballast yaddah yadah. Anyways I know nothing about ballasts, electricity..but I know ballasts are moderately expensive. He's offering both to me for 50 bones. The other light is just a 150 watt flood w/ one of those cone reflector's, and a built in switch. Nothing special. Anyways it seems like a descent deal? Might be nice to supplement the 600 sodium w/ some MH too. Maybe expand the tent a bit. I don't know much about leccy like i said, and the ballast is what I described plus a buncha wires...doesn't come w/ a socket. I imagine the socket part would be cheap... As are reflectors. Whatch'all think? Thanks folks

Jas, The ghetto ballst isn't worth $50. You can buy the kit new for less then that. Wiring isn't that difficult. Tell him you'll give him $25 for both. He's trying to scam you for gas money... Dee

Cool yo, thanks for the responses. I already have a 600w that's switchable and errything. Just thought it might be cool to supplement the HPS w/ some MH @ the same time. I'll prob just buy a quality MH sometime in the near future when I expand the tent a bit. Thanks for takin your time to respond guys. Cheers.

Buy Quality UL Listed Equipment. Fires kill. We had 3 fireman killed by a lightfire in a guys home who had like 7 plants around here last year. Very sad to say the least. Definitely not good for the hobby. Probably totally preventable...

I'll be buying a 250 MH or something so that I can have both going @ the same time. From what I know plants like something around a 2:1 HPS/MH ratio during flower. Although obviously I could do either or, or a different ratio.
