In short no. As long as you have good light penetration than all should be well. Unless the fan leaves are totally blocking out light, I might think of giving it a light trim. Fan leaves are essential to store water, nutes and provide plenty of transpiration.

Dont start hacking off fan leaves. Ive heard claims like this before. In the long run, it will cause more damage to remove fan leaves. At the last stages of flowering, I sometime trim fan leaves. Other than that, keep them intact.

we only trim the fan leaves if there damaged or are huge and blocking far to much light from buds below. we have trimmed them all off in the past b4 but one got diseased and the other didnt produce any better than the other ones with the leaves on. removing a few wont kill ur plant. just dont strip it.

Topping the plant would promote more cuttings if you're looking to use it as a mother plant.

If you're outdoors just leave it be, you should have plenty of light penetration. Indoors however IF you are to trim anything (that you plan on flowering), trim the bottom most 20 30% of the foliage, but try to leave the big fans on the bottom. All fan leaves are good for sugar production, unless yellow or burnt. This sends new growth to the top buds for biggest production. If you're looking for cutting production for clones, pinch off the end tips of each branch, which makes the branch split into 2 new-growth branches. In essence, each time you pinch a tip off, 2 new branches will grow from that spot, giving you extra clone material.
