Gentlemen, I live in New England and I was wondering at what temperature does a full grown plant in bloom stop producing buds? The night's are getting down to 50 degrees and within a few weeks they will get colder still. I was also wondering if a plant that is in the middle of flowering will withstand cold weather long enough to finish, or if it just halts all together. One final question, if worst comes to worst can I take a plant inside to finish or would the stress stop it from growing too? |

those temps are a bit too low. if in a pot outside, you sure could bring it indoors. you would need to provide the right environment for the plant indoors tho. such as light, temps and ventilation. optimum temps are around 75 deg. but you can swing it up or down a bit without recourse.

Mine would go until just before first frost. They can get pretty slow, but remember that the ground (and therefore the root ball) is still warm and the daytime highs are still adequate for continued growth. I once grew a slow strain that finished after three or four frosts; I had to cover the whole plant with a big plastic bag at night (it was a big plant so I had to make a custom bag from taping pieces of sheeting together). Any bud poking out was dead by morning. The bag cover worked fine, and was worth the effort (I had to cover it 11 nights). I would not try to transplant a large plant this far into flowering, but that's just me.

Thanks guys that soothed some of my doubt about what I'm gonna do. Let it keep going until the first frost and see how much longer I can push it. Maybe putting mirrors on the ground to reflect back some sunlight. (Sketchy) At night I'll cover the plant with a tarp and try to keep the plant alive for maybe a week or two after the first frost. Depending on how big the buds are, I'll either hack it and dry it, or try to transplant it into a big ass pot and try to flower it for a couple more weeks indoors. I suppose that as long as the nugs don't get moldy or decompose inside, there's nothing stopping me from harvesting early if need be. However I realize the futitlity in trying to outsmart nature.

So long as it doesnt frost, you are good. The soil-temps are usually ok until frost-time, and those are the temps that are crucial.
