using planted fish tank water

So...I have been pondering the idea to use my aquarium water for my p plants. I fertilize it daily with micro and on odd days macro nutrients it gets the required amount of needed nutrients for submersed plants which I cant think would be much different for other plants. I could get quite a nutrient load. I use it in my house plants and they have gone bannanas in growth and color. My pitcher plant also is liking it and I would think that it would not do well because it is such a sensative plant. Any luck or horror stories?

Check out aquaponics bro! I believe breeder steve used to use this very same method but there were fish in the tanks as well.

If you can work out the correct ph and dilution, I'd think substituting it for one macro feed a week and play it by ear.

Happycaps LEVEL +10 - IN GOOD STANDING
thanks. It is a 180gallon discus tank. There is 11 adult discus and about 40 other smaller fish. so i should have a good amount of nitrogen and the rest of the ferts should be perfect. i am using it with a seedling right now with good results but if its a female and i clone her i was hopeing that the ferts would be ample for my mother and then the flowering girls. Im only going to have 2-3 plants for flowering and im gonna use my t5ho's for flowering. They are plant specific bulbs @ 218 watts on a 4ft professional grade hood. Hps will come when i get my room set up with hydroponics. I just got my medical card so im starting slow to get a hang of the process and be able to recognize deficiancies. im gonna flower them at a smaller size due to space. So this is what i fert with.

potasium nitrate
potasium sulfate
mono potasium phosphate
iron
plantex csm-b which has:
magnesium
copper
iron
manganese
molybdenum
zinc
boron
and i also add calcium chloride and magnesium sulfate 2x a week. So what may i run into or what might i not be adding that i should?

freedum LEVEL +50 - WELL-LIKED
I think fish tank water would be good, so long as you don't use any chemicals in it. I'm specifically thinking of any of those chemicals that get rid of ich. they tend to kill all invertibrates including plants. If you have used these chemicals recently I would do a few water changes before I even thought about using it to water my plants.
anyone think fish tank water might be good for PF tek jars? (assuming the water to be chemical free)

Old fish tank water is full of
beneficial nematodes, enzymes, and many
other great micro-organisms.

Ph adjust and your good to go.

Kinda makes me wanna get some fish

Honestly it'd be cool to have a mini eco-system like that

jrogers311 LEVEL +10 - IN GOOD STANDING
I use the water from water exchanges in my tank for watering my plants. I dont add nutes to the fish tank. If I did I would be cautious about using it for water the last 2 weeks. I do better with a flush and tap water these last weeks for a cleaner smoke. I say go for it!

Hell yeah man. All the nitrogenous wastes left by the fish, and the by products of those same wastes being broken down by the bacteria in the tank.. If I were a plant Id be drooling.
Id start like Shroom57 suggested, once a week and watch for anything odd. Then maybe step it up? Possibly Mini-tek idea here in the works?

Im going to watch this one! Nice, man!

Maybe even, if you used a sump to filter your aquarium, siphon off water (and add more to the tank) to water on the regular from the refugium zone in your sump. I bet you could even make fish poo tea for your plants from what gets caught in the fibrous filter!!!
