Ok. I'm setting up a new project here, goal is maximum yield per watt without using co2 enrichment. I will in detail explain how every thing inside the room is contructed and setup, from the construction of the hydrobuckets i am constructing to the constrtuction of the grow room itself. This is a work in progress which will be updated daily as i contsruct the room. I will be done with construction within 2 days. Lets get started !

ok. heres how i built my 'hydrobuckets'. they are a combination topfeed/dwc system that is very active and requires alot of maintenance. heres how i set it up. you need the following equipment (per 6): 6x top inside thread 3/4 pvc T pieces as seen in the first pic 6x female piece that fits into the T piece 6x 5 gallon (not white or translucent) buckets with lids 6x 4" net pots 6x 4" airstones hydroton air pump 1" drill bit caulking First i drill 1" holes in the bottom of each five gallon bucket, near the center but offset. I take the female piece, and apply a thin layer of caulking over it and feed it through the hole from the inside. the top of it should not slip through the hole. take your T piece and screw it on as tight as you can, and then add more caulking around it to make sure tis sealed. you do NOT want anything to leak. Now take your lids and cut 4" holes in them in the center. it does not have to be exactly in the center, but try and get it close. I used a marker to draw circles around the net pots and then used a box cutter to cut the outline out. stay inside the line so that your netpot doesnt fall through. it should look like the pics below.

Just my opinion but i think people are better off doing a straight dwc than a drip feed system as you seem to be making. Not that your system won't work, it's just a lot more trouble than plain dwc and more risk. By risk i mean the risk of flooding which after fire and cops, is our biggest threat. Water can ruin a house or apt. to the point you have to tear it down after mold gets into the walls and so on. I don't mean to scare anyone but make sure you know what you are doing before you go to a drip feed with a return. One tiny leak and you are ruined. You didn't mention the pump or central res which i assume you will be using. Back when i grew i used straight dwc with good results. I had one flowering room that used 2 kw and 2 smaller rooms that used 600w each. It's a lot of work changing the solution on dwc but there are a few tricks to make it easier. Good luck with your project and keep those pics coming! |

I hate to say i told you so but that's the major problem with ebb and flow and even more so with drip buckets because you have so many lines and connections. Something is always coming loose. Straight dwc means no water going from one place to another. Even with dwc make sure your air pumps are above the water level because they will start siphoning solution lots of times after they are turned off. Good luck with it. You can make it work and then you will be in green heaven. |

Buckets work great you just have to have an air pump for each one and keep it above the water level. I pick pumps up at wall mart for around $10 or they might have jacked it up a buck or two since then. To change the solution just use a siphon hose and another bucket. I even had a hose running to the tub so i didn't have to carry buckets. Buckets let you move the plants around where you want them. Tables generate tons of algae after a while. And you still have the leak situation and lines running water from one place to another. People have made it work but you can't beat dwc for simplicity and results. |

W/ a 2400 watt garden soil's a shitload of work though Although the end product is better too (IMO).. Same reason u see most commercial folks going the hydro route..just less hassle and whatnot

I see a very distinct difference between commercial and medical grows. On thcfarmer, the user hererisssh has a wonderful DIY standalone 2g DWC system that will cost you under $20. Linkage - http://www.thcfarmer.com/forums/f95/...c-bucket-2551/
