![]() | Leaving plants
I was just wondering if anyone's left their plants alone after budding, ie not harvesting and just letting the plant carry on doing what it wants. Would the bud eventually dry up and fall off or something? Would the plant grow into a tree(?!) if left long enough? Just some random thoughts. I think I read something somewhere once about keeping plants alive after they've been harvested. Anyway. Any input?

Ya I know some people will harvest the buds and throw the plant back into vegetative state to make new growth/foliage, then flower again for more buds, doing this for a year or longer of re-vegging and flowering, keeping the initial stalk and roots. I'm not really sure what would happen if you didnt harvest the buds though. |

Plants left unharvested will sometimes revert back to vegetative growth with an increase to 18 or 24 hrs of light. However most I've seen have dried up, turned brown, rotted, or just died. Much better luck with re-vegging if most of the flowers are removed, leaving fresh growth and some leaf to recover. Plants have been kept alive many years, which imo is quite a feat considering these are annuals. Good luck |

They will normally just die and turn brown no matter what you do so you are better off harvesting. The only question is when. I waited until the red hairs were 90% brown. If you want to get every possible bit and wait till the last moment wait until they are 100% red and no more white hairs. It's totally down hill after that so don't wait any longer. On rare occasions they will reveg. I never really got into that. Like it was said, your best bet is to take the buds off and try to reveg what's left. Maybe leave a couple tiny lower buds on. |

There's perfectly good reasoning why nobody practices this though.. It's basically a waist of time.

Cheers for the replies everyone! Sounds interesting. It was just a random thought really, hadn't heard of anyone doing it before. Actually I did once, and that was in someone's garden. Aparently it turned into a bit of a tree! Thanks for the input everyone |
