Cannabutter questions

Okay, I've read a bunch of threads about making budder.

The way we used to do it was to simply simmer the shake in butter and scoop off the junk. We haven't tried the water method, but that looks like a better deal.

Now the questions:

Is there any loss of potency when doing the water/butter thing? I'd guess not, from comments here and elsewhere.

Would baking the shake, as in green dragon, improve the potency? Or maybe sautee the ganja in the butter first on low heat 'til it's fragrant, then add water and boil?

Does a second pull on the plant material improve potency very much? Is it worth it?

I do the water method with use a second pull, but usually only with half as much butter. Works very well! I don't think that the water would cause a loss in potency, the THC is not water soluble.

I wash my butter twice. You can hardly taste it and it looks nice and clean.

As far as potency, I fear my butter and mix it with veg oil in my creations to cut it down so I am not fucked up for 72 Hrs. My friends won't eat any baked goods at parties and cookouts anymore without asking who made it...

I kind of suspected those were the answers I'd get about the water method.

OK, I'll go with the wash first, then the water method with a second pull.

Any thoughts on baking/sauteing first? I guess I'll have to research the cannabinol/thc conversion temperature. I'll probably do the "traditional" method first to get a baseline.

So, concentration. Say for 1 oz. or decent trim, how much butter? Prism, it looks in your cannabutter thread like about 1.5 lb. if you used 5 lb. for 6-8 oz. of material. Is this correct? Will that be strong enough?

Sounds like that's about rignt, according to that thread.

I have the same result with my chocolates and Green Dragon. lol I have a hell of a time to get some to just try a smaller dose. Some people just over do it the first time.

I used leaves, stems and trim... no buds...and the butter was so strong that 2 small cookies knocked me out. The wife and I were hung over the next day. My friend freaked out...

I still have a large hunk of that batch in the freezer. Lasts forever because of fear...

I started adding Veg oil to the butter when I bake to cut it down so it wasn't so strong.

Guess I've got my plans made. Gotta go up north the get the material in a week or two, will report the results.

I use an ounce of sugar leaf trim for two sticks of butter and it works pretty well. For schwag herb I use an oz per four sticks.
