Volcano Vaporizer..... 2 questions

My FOAF just got a Volcano 2 weeks ago and loves it and had made a permanent switch to vaping after 17 years of smoking. Highly Recommended! No pun intended...
Anyway 2 questions if anybody knows, or he may have to figure it out for himself...
1. Can you vape shrooms? I know heat is bad for myc, but tea is effective. Wonder if shrooms are vapeable?
2. I have heard this thing extracts 90% (lets say maybe even 80%). My FOAF does not waste. He has made weed oil a few times in the past to cook with. He typically does an entire oz cooked into oil. So lets say it is only at 10-20% strength (since the rest was extracted). Does that mean he needs to cook 5-10 oz at a time? Mathematically those numbers would equate to the same strength oil (assuming it is truly 80-90% extracted) but that seems like a LOT of plant matter. Yopu would need several times the amount of oil just to cover that much weed, so the oil would be weak he is guessing since so much would be needed. Not sure if this question was made clear. Does anybody know what I am trying to ask and have any idea? THANKS!

People have made treats from their vape leftovers and were happy with the result, so there's definitely still some THC in it. I've not made anything out of my leftovers yet (I have a Volcano too), but some people around here have and they'd be better able to give you tips about using that stuff.

Frankly, I don't use my Volcano very often since I find it so much easier to just pop a bud into a bowl and hit it. I think I'd end up using a Vape Bros. or similar type of vaporizer more often than the Volcano just because Volcanoes take a lot of fussing with. I'm curious if you'll still be using it exclusively in another month or two because when I first got one I felt the same way you do. Now if I'm sick or something and smoking is too harsh, you can bet I'll be vaporizing...

vaping mushies is not very feasible. At some low temps maybe something might happen, but the heat will destroy the goods...mostly just a waste and now your vape is dirty.

and 2.... if you want to use your vaped weed, i'de make some butter as opposed to oil....here's the process.

To account for the massive amount of plant matter you have I wouldn't use a double boiler as you'll run into the same problem as the oil... too much damn weed. Here is my solution for you.

(little bit of guessing here just wake n baked)

lets say you bring 8 cups of water to a boil.

toss in one pound of butter, melts quickly and you turn the heat down. using a thermometer moniter the temp for a few minutes, you want to keep it around 220 F.

So now you toss in your 5 oz of powder and stir.

Time differes here, and it seems to be more opinion than fact. I'm lazy and stir mine for as long as i can stand...around 20 minutes

some say 3 hours, some do 6-8 hours. If you have experience here, use that.


So we now have this large pot of nasty looking green stuff. you want to pour it into a new container through a gold coffee strainer. (the mesh ones...cheese cloth may be substituted here, but the contents and hot and cheese cloth is messy) and toss it in the fridge to separate out the butter layer....butter will congeal ontop of the water.

Give it a good long 6+ hours in the fridge. I just leave mine over night.

at this point it's actually shortening and no longer butter. you'll notice some weight loss in the butter after the process. On the bottom of the butter there will be some particle matter.

I repeat the process again with the weed butter to give it a more clean look and taste. the boiling and congealing that is...this time if anything is left on the bottom i just scrape it off...use that butter for some immediate toast!


only have 2 oz of weed to powderize? use half a pound of butter and less water...etc....

I've said this before, but the only way to go is butane! It's just the best and so easy and cheap.
Take a mason jar and cut a tiny hole in the top of it. Get a can of butane from the dollar store. You need about 10 oz altogether and there are lists of the non-nasty brands online.
Put your weed inside of the mason jar, spray both containers into the jar and mix it around. It will get all pretty and black and goopy because all of the active stuff (and most of the ash sadly) will start dissolving into the liquid.
Dump all the liquid into another jar or, better yet, a glass pie dish. Leave it in open air and let it evaporate for about 24 hours.
No smoking or open fire during any of this obviously.
Then, take the goop you have left over and add about half a shot of vodka or everclear. This will melt all the oil.
Add butter.
Eat.
Alternatively, you can just smoke the oil.
Oh, and if you want your mushrooms to work faster, either powder them or blend them. The smaller the particulate pieces, the quicker the digestion.

There are plenty of active compounds left in the vaped plant matter. My BFF and his lady regularly make brownies and fudge using powdered leaves and they'll get you stupid fucked up.

I've been looking into getting a vaporizer for a while since my asthma gets worse as i get older. But $600 for a volcano is just outrageous. Seems like some enterprising young stoner would have drawn up some blueprints for a ghetto vape by now... *cough*

I posted this somewhere.

Get a bottle and break off the bottom or, if you don't want to mess with breaking glass, take the bottom off of a blender.

Buy a 30 dollar hotplate or put a skillet on your stove.

Put the weed on top of the hotplate.

Put the bottle on top of the hotplate.

Make the hotplate hot. (311 is the temp weed vapes at. I generally aim at 350, since these hotplates are finnicky and sort of cheap)

Put your mouth to the glass and suck in. The weed will move around and the smoke will get thicker.

Stop sucking. (Good advice in general)

Lift the bottle an inch and suck in all the smoke at once. Because it's sudden and not that hot, you can get a full lungful. If anything, it gets me higher than a bowl.

Hold it...

hold it...

hold it!

Breath out.

The only complaint I've had about this ghetto vape it the heat of the smoke. You can fix this by adding an ice attachment or a bubbler. You can make one out of a two liter bottle.

its worth the investment. Although I have asthma too, and its still makes me cough like crazy, but it doesn't burn my throat like a bongload.

TB - I invested in a vapor bro. about 3-4 years ago and havent looked back since . Very rarely smoke anymore , about a year ago the heating element broke and i called vape bro. and they had me send it in with 35 bucks and completely refurbished it It also only takes about 5 min to heat up

i can personally recommend the xtreme vaporizer. Had it for a few years now, love it. 300 bucks. remote, whip, bags, timers, digital thermostat. The new version put out in the last year or so is more accurate than the model i have as well. and yea butane extraction and alcohol ext/tinctures are cool too...nothing like eating it though. try it all !

In my experience, it takes less time for my ghetto vape to load up than a regular one. So... a minute or so? And once you get the first hit the second one is ten seconds away.

But yeah- make an ice catcher. Totally worth it.

FOAF did butter years back. But not like that. He used straight butter-NO water. Thats pretty cool. So the water would compensate for where the extra butter (or oil) would be needed, but it separates so it would be concentrated. Very cool!!!
