![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Invitro PESA, Salad Bowlin' tek
If You dont have a lot of room or space salad bowls can come in handy. Notice how they grow on all sides of the cake. you incubate the bowl right side up, at birth you flip it over and the bowl becomes a terrarium ! more info here !! (Floppypeter's invitro Easter Eggs, from sub to harvest) Sub is verm/coir/poo dunked at first sing of pins about 3 half pints of spawn per bowl been working with this substrain for the better part of 6 months and it still hasnt slowed down, seems to work well with both flat tray and invitro, lucky me ! they look really beautiful, almost like art.

Thank you ! Space is a real issue for me. These bowls stack on top of one another so their footprint is nil. Performance of the bowl seem to come down to 2 factors. It really depends on spawn to substrate ratio, 1:2.5 is whats pictured above, and the substrain ( isolate of PESA in this case ) On average with a good performing invitro strain I seem to get 300+ wet grams per over 3 or 4 flushes. Im not sure about dry wieghts; between me and my friends they dont seem to last long enough to dry, heh.... this is a great method for the hobbiest; it would probably be to much of a pain in the ass to do more than 2 or 3 bowls at a time. Prep time is longer than for trays. So, its prolly easier to do flat trays if your concerned about wieghts.

Two of the three projects got trich after the third fllush. The fourth flush of the remaining cake popped out five dollar sized shrooms for a fourth flush. IME these four fruits were BY FAR the strongest and most potent cubes I have ever ate and I've ate my share. Fresh is better brain butter batter IMO.

Neph, I use to use 3m pore tape over the holes. there is no percieved difference in performance with open holes versus taped. for FAE the bowls are kept were they will get a little airflow all the time. In a static air ( not moving ) situation you would probably have to open them up and fan them once or twice a day. at this point the bowls are only opened twice, when the bowls are ready for the initial dunking then again at harvest. Contams have never been a problem so I figure the open holes are ok for my use.

i like the 3M tape too but in a clean area open holes work fine, how we used to do it, i think both ordinary tyvek and polyfil block fae too much to make any difference without a fan-driven breeze to overcome the resistance. even the 3M tape has some resistance so oen holes no doubt are best if no fan is used.
