I normally grind two pods into powder ang mix with yogurt. the tea never did much for me BUT I WAS BOILING for 20 min. I will try a batch steeping in hot water for 20-30 and see how that truns out. thanks DDD!

great thread D3 ! i'd really like to hear some more about extracting the latex to make tar with this method. how do you get all the water to evaporate with out heat? just let it sit in a bucket and dry out naturally? i know you can milk the pods before you cut em down to get the goo out. it seems to me that extracting with hot water and evaping it is a little more efficient..? i'd really like to hear some feed back on this, what's the all around best way to get at the milky center? tea, evap extract (tar), or milking pods (tar)..?? i have to be honest the tea idea kinda scares me a little bit. i'm much more familiar with smoking tar.

Poppy pods have an indefinite shelf life; I have about 50 stashed away in a hole somewhere.. every now and again I'll pull out a pod or two for some nod-time (learned about pod addiction the hard way many years ago ) The potency hasn't changed one bit in six years.Teas will vary in color depending on the age of the pod when it was harvested. It makes no real difference in potency, but just a 12 hour difference will make the inside striations a darker color from pod to pod. Don't make the mistake I did years ago by whipping up a really light colored tea and convincing yourself that it's not potent enough, then drinking twice as much... that was a VERY long night spent itching my legs to bleeding without even knowing I was doing it, although in a really odd way it felt good at the time. To me, pod tea tastes like shit, and the very smell of it makes my stomach twirl a little bit to this day, but not enough to get rid of the 'ol stash ![]() If you're a true junkie, then you'd better save all of your stems for a rainy day - they're nowhere as potent as pods, but they certainly contain the alkaloids your body will be screaming for if you don't moderate your intake. Back when I was pining for the UPS man to arrive with a big box from my favorite florist, I'd brew up a big batch of stem tea, 1/2 stems, 1/2 water - it'll do until the goods arrive. On the note of addiction, you'll find that about a week AFTER drinking your last teacup, you'll start getting flu symptoms, headache, nausea, cramps, sweats, etc. You'll think to yourself, "I'm getting a cold - I'll just have a cuppa tea to help me along," the symptoms will go away for a week, and then BAM - it's all back again. Took me a month to figure out that my Saturday night tea treat had already turned into an irrepressible monkey. On the up and up, a double dose of almost any serotonin reuptake inhibitor for 2-3 days will ease the pains enough to get you off pretty easily the first few times; Zoloft works exceedingly well for this if you can get it. On the other hand, if you drink tea daily for a few months, you're fucked. Actual heroin junkies have used pods to get off junk, only to find that a serious pod addiction is actually worse than junk addiction.. There used to be a website, poppies.org, which is where I got started online - don't know if it's still around, but anyone looking to dabble in pods would be well advised to look into the potential negative side effects. Personally, I just can't handle having pods in the house - my head is just hard-wired for opiates, I suppose, so I find it convenient to store them under about 30 minutes of hard digging (how bad do you want that tea?) ![]() soliver |

Dunno about oils and fats.. 18g from 50g powder seems like you got a very high amount... I was averaging 10% from all my extractions... | |

Yeah you both make a excellent point.I remember I started off with pods thinking that every other day or so would be fine and not really much of a problem.Boy was I in for a surprise but luckily once I started to get those nasty feelings I realized what it was and put a end to it right then before it got any worse.I remember someone here saying something along the lines of it it may look like a inoccent plant but if your not careful mother nature can and will open up a major can of whoop ass on ya.That quote always stuck with me for some reason. Bosshog There is plenty of info in the vaults and buried in the forums. Some people prefer the alcohol extracts over the water extracts because of the time it takes to evap water but I totally disagree. The alcohol extracts do seem to be more potent to me but leaves you with and extremly sticky tar that is hard to deal with.So what I have done was just use hot water baths to solve the problem. It probably does cause a little potency loss but it is well worth it to me.I haven't found a viable method of evaping the water other than this way.I tried the heat pad but just took way too long and after a few days it formed some type of bacteria that I could smell so I ended up just tossing the stuff.I didn't want to take a chance on it. Here is a good post on it.Just scroll down to the last section of post #13 http://forums.mycotopia.net/poppies-...oppy-teks.html (Opium Poppy Teks) Here is a thread I posted on the subject a while back http://forums.mycotopia.net/photo-ga...r-extract.html |
