fruits are placed on the cookie baking rack(black grate). spores drop then caps removed and prints allowed to dry.

the lid is foil. you can put the foil down. place the cookie baking rack above it. place aluminum foil over the container for the lid. bake in the oven at 350 for an hour. let it cool. take it to your cleean area. open, place caps in then close foil. place in cool, dry, clean, dark place for 12-18 hours.

I have always just put the cap in a halt pint jar for a day, picked it out and put a lid on it with silicon ports. Those havent failed me yet. Im not saying your setup in inferior in anyway though. Looks perfect for lots of prints.

I have found that bending the long leg of a paper clip so that it makes an "L" shape works great as a cap tote handle. I stick the long straight part of the clip through the cap at the very top so it pokes back out a little (taking care not to penetrate into the gills), then while holding the other part of the clip (the handle) I cut off the cap and move it to the printing setup without touching the cap except for the paper clip. I leave it in while it prints, then use it to pull the caps back out. It's easy to not put the clip in deep enough and you'll have some caps tear and drop off the clip until you get the hang of it, so take a few failures into account when deciding how many caps to print.

Here's something I use and it works really good for one print at a time. Just put some water on the bottom and sterilize the apparatus. Then you can print directly into the water. You can then suck up the spores through the lid after you remove the cap. ![]() ![]() |

the tins turned out to be too big. they barely fit on the shelf. one tin had to be on one shelf, the other on another shelf. these new sterilites stack real easy. and when the aluminum tins went in the shmuvbox. it was difficult to maneuver. had to be real careful. now, this is real simple and the rig is sturdy. better be, spent about 4 hours searching for just the right rig. so, if you like it, you can save yourself alot of time. depending on the space available. this is a very tight space. so there is not much room to play with. all other space is utilized for storage. spent the day on a printing rig run. looked everywhere. trying to utilize the space available. the problem was that none of the lower flat sterilites are the right size. all being bigger than the appropriate size to fit on the shelves. this was a run around target and walmart back and forth with bins and trays day. flat baking trays. the thick ones. 10 bucks each but worth it. 15 jars fit per tray. found these 28 quart sterilites for about 5 bucks at target. 23"x26"x6"h. nice, clean, stackable. takes up very little space. the trays can stack two in each bin. ![]() ![]() ![]() easy and stackable. 30 prints per bin. put 3 together. and you have 90 print capacity. the bake pan, foil, and jars are baked in the oven for 30 mins at 350 degrees. once cool, the sterilite is thoroughly cleaned with rubbing alc and disinfectant spray. the trays are placed inside the plastic containter right out of the oven once cool. then taken to the clean area. or to the shmuvbox for printing. caps cut off and laid down with glass jars over them. alllowed to print for 12-18 hours then caps are removed and prints are allowed to dry with jars over the prints for a few days. nice thing is. you can visually see inside these boxes without having to open them up. the prints look like they have a square mesh pattern on it. where the rack is, the print isn't on the foil. if that makes sense.

Looks good. I've been doing something similar, but without the jars and baking pans. I clean the bins and foil down with alcohol in front of the flow hood, then open the monotub up downstream from the printing bin. Start cutting the caps off with sterile scissors and plop them on the foil.

Im glad I didn't miss this thread. Eatyualive- nice print teks, my foaf will be borrowing some of your methods the next print run. AquaVelva- have you germinated from prints using your tek? My foaf was thinking of a way to use the hood to print. Do you worry about contams blowing off of the caps onto the foil or print behind it? Peace |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | shmuv or in front of a flowhood. i cook the foil and trays for 30 mins at 350. then clean the kitchen area with bleach wipes. turn off the ac and spray disinfectant into the air prior to opening the oven and placing the hot tray, foil and jars into the tub. the tub has also been wiped with rubbing alc and sprayed with disinfectant prior. then move it to a clean area for cooling. once cool, spray the outside of the entire tub with lysol. then place it in your shmuv. once in the shmuv. time to print. cut the caps off and place each cap under each jar. let it sit overnight for 12 to 18 hours. then you can use a small bobby head needle to quickly lift each jar and remove the caps.
