Great stuff NF, really nice to see all the stages and see what I'm in store for next year ![]() I was wondering if they would have that blue nipple appearance when mature. ![]() What were your colonizing/incubation temps when starting them beauty's off ?? Cheers |

I germinated the spores on PDA at 25 C. All other steps done at room temperature (20-22C). It's very important to adjust the pH value of the agar medium between 4.0 and 4.5 in order to prevent bacterial contamination.

If you have no contam, pH 5.6 is okay. The perfect pH value for most mushrooms lies between 5.0 and 5.5. But many bacteria and yeasts like that pH value also. But if you have no contams, pH 5.6 is nearly perfect.

Hi susu, have you checked out Spacecake's Azurescens thread? Some talk of temps and fruiting on last page. The whole thread is pretty good though ![]() http://forums.mycotopia.net/photo-ga...ry-2008-a.html |

Plates are on there way. ![]() I've never poured agar so Ive ordered pre-poured, hence the concern as there wasnt too many options. I got SDA. Only other one was soy based and I didnt like the sound of that. Can't wait to see a cyclone! ![]() Does the frisco myc actually do that on a plate??

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() There is a map showing the distribution of Psilocybe semilanceata in my country. The other pic shows the preferred altitude. The map is still under construction by adding new Libs finds. ![]()

Cyanofriscosa is a very aggressive colonizer. I created my patch in March 2009, spreading 25 kg of wood chips, and by the end of June the hole patch was fully colonized.

![]() I wanted to ask you as well (sorry for the persistant questions ),what substrate's did u use?? any additives? Is it possible that frisco's are a bit more pine tolerant? I only ask this because of your beautiful pine covered mountain pics. ...and the fact that I'm finding it hard to get hardwood.

For the Cyanofriscosa I used willow (Salix alba) wood chips without any additives. All I know is that Psilocybe azurescens and Psilocybe cyanescens grow on spruce (Picea abies) wood chips. I don't know if pine chips or other coniferous wood chips work. You may find hardwood chips at the local (fish) smokery. They use hardwood chips (especially from beech trees) for smoking fish and meat. Or contact the local forester or a nursery. They cut back trees during winter and shred the wood.

Psilocybe cyanofriscosa and Psilocybe cyanescens are closely related. I created a Cyanofriscosa patch flanking a Cyanescens patch, because I want to find out if a crossbreed will emerge someday.

I had heard that Friscosa was aggressive and would "take-over" Cyan territory and this had lead me to keep the two separate. Thanks for doing this and photo-documenting. Curious to see how it goes.

I really wonder what will happen. It's true, Cyanofriscosa mycelium is VERY aggressive!

November 15, My experimental Cyanofriscosa / Cyanescens patch. Maybe they are already hybridizing. Who knows what happens beneath the soil surface... ![]() ![]() ![]()

This is an awesome patch you made there, nightflyer! ![]() I also like your experiment friscosa vs. cyanescens. I'm not sure if hybridization will respective can happen this way, but anyway it will be interesting to watch how their boundaries will shift over time. It might be a good idea to make some overview pictures which include some easily recognizable landmarks which will still be there the next year. Ok, if the friscosa takes over the whole patch, you don't need that Viel Erfolg, Rhizo |

It does actually look like there is a little battle going on. Notice how the frisco's are out wide circling in on the cyan's which are huddled in a tight group looking quite worried, the cyan's have got one brave soldier who is out in the thick of the frisco troops but I'm not sure what his chances are. lol
