The Hidden Messages in Water is an eye-opening theory showing how water is deeply connected to people's individual and collective consciousness. I first heard of Dr. Emoto and his water photography from watching the movie "What the Bleep do we know?!"; a movie that interviews several neurologists and physicists.
While we are on the movie subject, I HIGHLY recommend that you see this movie, I really enjoyed it. Also has some good animation if you are tripping, and is very thought provoking.

How the photographs are taken

A crystal is a solid substance with orderly configured atoms and molecules. In particular, because snow is formed under a variety of conditions, there are no two crystals that have the same face (just like human faces). Dr. Emoto wondered if this is also the same with the crystal structures of the various types of water on the earth. Dr. Emoto then came up with a theory that when a water molecule crystallises, pure water becomes a pure crystal. But contaminated water may not crystallise as beautifully as pure water.

Water changes rapidly and is unstable. In order to obtain an example of an average crystal, as many samples as possible had to be photographed under as many conditions as possible. It was impossible to obtain identical crystal pictures. In other words, it was impossible to perfectly reproduce the same crystal twice. However, what we did find is that crystals do show a certain distinctive tendency called a grid crystal or laminar crystal structure. Crystals can be identified by this structural tendency.

High-speed photography of crystals formed in frozen water reveals changes in the same body of water after specific, concentrated thoughts were directed toward it. Small amounts of water (an 8 oz. glass) as well as large areas of water (such as dams and lakes) were used in these experiments and in all cases the water samples reflected a molecular change.

Music and visual images were used to stimulate the water samples. The water was also exposed to words written on paper and photographs placed underneath or around the glass containers to see if these energies had any impact. They did.

Naturally, since water covers the largest portion of our planet, and comprises the largest percentage of our physical bodies, the impact of our thoughts and feelings will play a large part in the way our environments get created, both globally and personally.

I haven't read any of his books so I can't answer those questions. I know he also tours with his seminar.... I think it's like $30 to attend.

This is really nothing brand new I have been watching this for a few years. They have changed the names I remember when they called it structured water and it was coming from the Sufi's in turkey. There seems to be more a market now for consumers or atleast a attempt of getting some.

Sounds like hooey to me.
Water is 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen,
I fail to see how negative thoughts can seriously
affect a molecule, but hell, who knows.

Either way, it's a great marketing idea,
one could charge exorbitant prices for regular water
that has been exposed to lots of "positive thoughts."

As for the christian mythology question . . .

The only thing separating christianity from other mythical religions
is a bunch of living practicioners.
It doesn't make any more scientific sense than the norse gods,
Greco/Roman mythology, or any other belief system based on
immortal folks and events inconceivable to a logical mind....

I was just reading this other thread (Movie- What the Bleep do we know?) about the messages in water and was glad to see there was a discussion about this topic. I have read all about these messages in the water (years before 'what the bleep' came out) and have always been fascinated by these things. I personally am a believer of Emoto's discoveries. There's also a lot of hippie things I do such as energy healing which seems odd and unexplainable but hey it works. So ANYWAY! Now to my point!

If water is affected by emotions, electronic interference, and merely messages slapped on a water cup that has very positive or negative connotations attached to it, then we can surely try some interesting things with mushrooms.

If mushrooms are over 90% water, then it is very possible that we can try our own experiments with these simple messages. For example, on my jars, with a marker I wrote 3-5 positive words wrapped around the jar. Words such as love, god, relaxed, potent, strong, visions, and some more. I just wrote them randomly with the sense that, since the water is a very important part of the entire growing process, then maybe these words will positively affect the growth of the mushrooms.

For what it's worth, this is my 2nd time trying mushrooms. The 1st time I tried, in a week they were all contaminated. It's been about 6 days and 50% of the jars are colonized, it's all growing very quick.

Now, if I had the space to be able to grow many dozens of jars. I would try doing let's say.. 12 jars with positive words on it, 12 jars with negative words and 12 jars with nothing on them like usual. All with the same strain, same growing conditions, and trying to keep everything else as equal as possible. And why to do all of this? Well, maybe the mushrooms grown in the negative words will have more aborts? deformities? Maybe they will be statistically no different than anything else? Well, the point is, I don't know if anyone has tried, but I would. If it turns out that the negative jars all got contaminated for no reason or never fruited, or something really weird like that, then that would be very interesting, wouldn't it?

By the way, I have an article from the wall street journal (came out about 1-2 months ago, i'll try to find it and retype it here) mentioning a discovery in the science community about how water bonds could be rearranged in infinitely different patterns. The H20 molecules don't bond to each other in a structural way, adding fuel to the debate about the reality of all this "hippie shit" (as my brother would label it). Anyway, I look forward to hearing all the comments.

My wife tapes I love you's on the reguvilack water. I tape little stickers on my mushroom jars that say " your the best". I'm not sure if it helps but I usually have good grows, so it must be working.

I've also tried the " sacrifice a virgin " thing and all that does is cause contam.

Here is how that should read:

The 'tests' do not show clear spring water exposed to negative thoughts, nor do the 'tests' show polluted water exposed to positive thoughts.

The only thing being shown by these tests is how pure water forms clean crystals, but water that has pollutants in it will form different crystals.

If you want to say thoughts from people had an effect on the water, then the carelessness in building a society that allows pullutants into the environment is the only negative thought from a human that had any effect on the water.

Watch the movie again, only this time keep a critical eye available. Don't let yourself get blindfolded by the wishful magical thinking of the Ramathian cult. It is presented as a scientific test. View it as such. Where is are the test groups? There are none; it is an artistic expression, using microphotography, and that is all.

However, living organisms are different from inorganic substances. Talk to your plants, talk to your pets, talk to your fungi. Living organisms do respond positively to positive emotions expressed verbally and physically; the opposite is true as well. That has been proven scientifically.

Uh... When you start thinking that writing messages on water jars will somehow make the water "good" in some way, it may be time to take a break from tripping for a while.

I do believe in positive energy and I do believe that the universe gives us signs and in this case the sign is: Dude! Stop tripping for about 6 months or until reality sets back in...whichever is first.

Thoughts and opinions color every aspect of your little trip through this “reality.”

On the macro level, you can see this manifest in the process of grouping and assigning labels (two red things). On a quantum level, you can see this manifest by expecting to find sub atomic particles doing specific things (electron paths/orbits).
