Dimitrius A variant on the Greek names Dimitris and Dimitrios, which are variants on the Greek name Demetrios. All three of which have the same meaning: "loves the earth" or "lover of the earth". Demetrios is derived from the name of the Greek goddess Demeter, of which her names means "mother earth" or "earth mother". I think Demeter is derived from some other culture, but you get the idea. So it means something like: "loves the earth" OR "lover of the earth" OR "lover of the mother earth" OR (my favorite) "lover of the earth mother" The name also has a certain implied relation to a certain three letters within the name. I know.......take your time. It's a doozy. Divine Moments of Truth Divine Moments of Truth for Us of the Earth Mother It also has a personal meaning, regarding several profound experiences that I've had within my life-time. Experiences of a non-self-induced, non-exogenous nature.....but I won't get into that. Even further, my actual name fits into Dimitrius very nicely. Aside from all of that, I like the way sounds. |

this thread rocks! mine was chosen while i was reading stamets' The Mushroom Cultivator obsessively, and i kept thinking in mushroom imagery. i kept picturing huge mats of hyphal knots stretching through the ground, a lot like hyphaenataion's idea of a sea-to-sea myc bed. the word knot made me think of the Gordian Knot, which was so intricate that none could untie it, though Alexander the Great (not a personal endorsement, never met the guy) just said fuck it and cut through it with a sword. Cut the Gordian Hyphae in half and you just get two Gordian Hyphaes!

No hidden meanings here. Me mommy called me that, then my friends of the era. Now only a few of my fellow old timers, and some new additions to the circle, know me as that. And my new friends here, of course. That's the name I refer to myself as, when I'm talking to me. When it came time to enter a 'nym here it just popped out my fingers of its own volition. I actually had something else in mind, but 'bugs' is what came out and I left it that way.

i honestly dont remember why i chose psycho. guess its just me. but drogue is considered to be one of the oldest originations of the word drug. (from "out of it", by martin booth). It's french. Figure i like some things that are considered for "advanced psychonauts only" like datura and 5-me0-DMT so thats psycho enough, right? |

Wow! I feel like I'm just about to leave home after a week of summer camp- all the strangers are now intimate buds... MANY years ago a lez friend of mine corrected me when I referred to her cat as a "kitty boy". She said, "No, he's a kitty MAAN!"... Flash forward, one of my kids (about 12 years ago) was talking about the studly male cat we had, who kept us and his hareem in kittens, as the "cat boy" and I corrected him. I said, "No, he's the Cat Daddy!" Flash forward to 2003. My wife of 23 years went menopausal and psychotic all at the same time, taking my precious kids and leaving me alone for the first time in 2 1/2 DECADES... and/so I started exploring. My natural proclivities for the strange and socially unacceptable led me into the BDSM scene, where I assumed the moniker Catdaddy. I've used others, one in particular that I still use in that lifestyle, but everybody calls me Catdaddy. or THE Catdaddy... Even my young somewhat nympho wife.... I like it cause it has a kinda hip, zoot suit era cool to it.... Now you know.. Catdaddy

Growing up, my aunt used to play the album "who are you". There was a lyric on there i thought said, "My name is Lionel Fire" Later i learn it said, "My name is 905" from the song 905 which was loosely based on Brave New World. So lionelfire is a play off that.. Great thread.

Great thread BB! I lived in Hong Kong in the 1980s and was always interested in the counter culture there. Went to high school there and learned the ways of the fragrant city like the back of my hand. My good friends back then took to calling me Crazy Chen due to my willingness to engage in crazyness. The crazyness has been slightly tempered by a MRS... |

![]() ![]() | Why am I partially veiled?
Merely a silly double entendre... Although, I suppose there is enough truth to it to make it more than just a slightly cheesy joke. Of course we all see the reference to mycology, and particularly to P. cubensis. At least, that's one of the intended meanings...then secondly it implies my intentions when creating an on-line identity. To shield my person from any harm or undue exposure, but to otherwise be 100% myself, and to not use anonymity as an excuse for shirking personal responsibility, or for abusing others rights and feelings while hiding behind a veil of secrecy. I've stayed away from on-line communities in the past because of my own personal meekness (slight agoraphobia, but only in very particular circumstances...I think I'm oversensitive to/unable to tune out certain environmental factors...and in the wrong situation it can make me INTENSELY discomforted...), and because people with anonymity seem to feel freer to disregard the reality and feelings of others, and can use their "veiled" identity to exempt themselves from acting like sane human beings. I feel like Mycotopia is different for some reason, it doesn't seem to go on here...acts like foolish hate mongering simply aren't going to be tolerated, so people are still accountable for their actions here...and most seem to act accordingly. I guess that's the name, a joke and a commitment to only being an asshole when it's called for !

The name I chose goes back almost a decade in my own personal use and has a rather mystical meaning behind it but all the more tied in with my personal spiritual perceptions. Sangraal is a word with dual meanings, depending upon how you split the name: Sang raal, Holy Blood; San Graal, Holy Grail. This is not to be confused with any literature by Brown, nor of any Christio-Gnostic persuasion (although Gnostic I will accept), as it's more so a case of seeing the forest beyond the trees. It represents a paradigm whereupon I believe that mankind should ever strive to meet his highest potential, to supersede natural boundaries and, by doing so, the evolution of mankind so follows. I believe in True Will, the journey of the soul, and the revelation of the creative principle(s) of the Universe through various methods. I believe that nature gifts mankind with such tools and their use in proper context are vehicles of these universal emanations. I believe, quite simply, that entheogens are the original Sacrament. They are the microcosm of the universal macrocosm, the blood, as it were, that reveals our path and our relevance in the Universe-at-Large. Through respect and reverence, the velada and the quite introspection, they reveal to us what the prophets saw, they allow us to create the Universe (in a soliphistic manner) as did Lord Indra after he ingested the Soma, and they give us the keys to understanding where voice and writing seems to fail. They are one doorway into the House of Many Mansions, via the vehicle of the subconscious. I chose this name because it represents my respect of this pathway.

Mine came when I was 14, the JR high school janitor called me burrhead because of my curly hair. Thats not where it ends though, I met my wife when we were 15 yrs old(from a different school) and my buddy called me burrhead in front of her and she started calling me that. Later when we got our drivers licences my buddy got into the car with my girlfriend and I and said where are we going Oh wild and wonderous burr? well my girlfriend starts cracking up and has called me wildburr since. Now that weve been married for 20 years and are 41 yrs old she still calls me that, so I guess its just a 26yr old nickname.

I used to be quite fond of video games and still am fond of classic/old style video games. The new games aren't as much of my thing. A game called Secret of Mana for the Super Nintendo had a monster called a mushboom. And what better place to use that as a pseudonym than here? |

"speckhunter" is something I came up with because I enjoy hunting for different species of rattlesnakes and getting photos of them, and "specks" (Crotalus mitchelli) are one of the coolest because they come in a myriad of colors, and usually match the rocks they live on.

I guess I could say that I like the movie, enough that it was on my mind more than most movies when I was growing up, and thus became somewhat formative to my ideals? But everyone liked the movie, though the sequels and tv show sucked. For the most part, I like animals, and tend to have a multitude of pets. A few years ago when I found Topia, I had quite the miniature zoo, and had acquired the nickname from a girlfriend at the time. I guess I have a way with animals, more than most people at least, and she had probably noticed me talking to one of my chickens or a cat with a subsequent response... hence the name, but there's more to it. Like my sigline, my name implies that I want to master my own beast. I view humans in general as biochemical robots that have a neural software running pretty much constantly. The movie what the bleep do we know? got that part right at least. The sigline comes from I, Robot, mainly the movie though I'm pretty sure its in the book too, when the creator convinces his robot to go against its programming. Humans are commonly on autopilot as seen in rampant consumerism, war, and religious fanatics to name just a few things that are out of control. Submitting to our neurosis and thinking that some pill is going to save me from depression or an inability to pay attention. I believe that we have the ability to rise above this, though we rarely do. I have had moments of clarity at best and am no different from those I criticise, as such my nym is an inspiration for me to be aware of why I'm doing whatever it is that I'm doing. I find that this site, in its interest in entheogens, has like minded individuals who also desire to snap out of following the biochemical codes in their heads by inserting thier own lines via entheogens. Entheogens are the key to change, so be brave, be bold! I'm learning now that 'mastering' my beast feels more like letting go of the reins and not worrying about 'control'. Realizing that the rider and the ride are one and the same is what does that, and it is not the same as just being the beast. If you are quick enough to see us clearly you'll see a Kid riding bareback on his wild-eyed Black Stallion, arms back and face to the sky, both grinning ear to ear as they tear off towards the sunset leaving nothing but a cloud of dust behind.

I use to enjoy the smurfs of course... but, to me it's a bit more than that I do believe as far as I know me!!! I have a bright and cheery personality, lighthearted, caring, sharing, and nurturing. On that when I experienced mushrooms that I really love well, you combine Shroom and ette as in smurfette there you have cute little me...... |

Feral- in a wild state, resembling a wild animal released from captivity. Ronin- a wandering samurai who had no lord or master. I have always thought that the whole samurai ideology was fascinating. And over time experimenting with psychedelics I always considered myself as a ronin. One without a master, meaning that I began to feel that I needed to look inwards instead of outwards for supreme happiness. Feral comes into play because of how I feel my mind gets when I trip. I feel like its in its natural state. But so much more advanced and free, willing to go to the end of possibility and take one big step. I like that place. ![]() How did I miss this thread. I have been wondering about these nyms for the longest. Keep em coming. Feel like I know you all a little better.

Just discovered this thread though I have been here on Topia for many years. I used to be called "Yogi" because well... I like to think of myself as one. I have had a daily yoga practice my entire adult life and am trained as a yoga teacher. When the server changed over the name Yogi was somehow locked out so I reregistered as "Yogin" which means the same thing and tends to draw fewe pic-a-nic basket jokes |

I gots me a stupid name. Anyway, I just signed up because I wanted to be able to see pictures and at that time you couldn't without signing up. I didn't think long or hard about what name to use (can you tell?). I figured everything would be taken like when you try to sign up for a yahoo account or AOL or whatever. Then I figured that I could just sign back up with a different name if I was going to stick around. I really had no idea that I would get as addicted to this place as I have. I started posting and haven't really shut up since I got here and then just decided to keep Looky.

Great thread Buckaroo! I came of age in the 1980's With the Jetsons being one of my favorite cartoons to get stoned and watch. I always thought Coswell's Cog's and Spacely's Sprockets were cool Company names (don't ask my why I was high). Well While lurking at Topia trying to think of a name the Jetsons came on and CamMyco was born.

i was interested in cultivating, then i found this place, and it proved its value after half an hour. umbrella is a name for the opened cap of a mushroom inviting protection of its race by spilling out the genetics of itself so that one day those seeds may do the same. around this time, i was trippin and walking around a deserted campus on a foggy autumn evening. something about the effect of HPS streetlamps and moving fog around you made me tingle. everything was also like when you watch a movie and in the scenes at night, usually in a car everything is wet like it just finished raining (why is that?). rainydaysthat trip had me questioning the meaning of it all, so i went outside (now i can rarely stay inside while shroomin) and in awe wandered the streets until i came down. that walk resolved the questions burning in me, and led me to change my entire focus of life. cultivating seemed like the challenge to cool the flames of this relentless seeking that everyone seems to go about life. well, what is there to seek that cant already be found? desire to have is a powerful force, but so is the desire to not have...that is, the knowledge of ourselves, and everything. is it really better not to listen to the voices that come up every now and then and just live blissfully ignorant? or is there a better way to find the peace of mind without drowning those voices? fog ciricled me and shook me to see a glimpse of what people claim the sparkle of enlightenment, seeing everything as if each little insignificant thing i saw was shining light from the source of the universe, magnifying the force that binds all things together, for me sounds represent this better, and if the earth produced sound what would it sound like, if the universe produced sound what would it sound like? aummmmm

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The magik in a name
What a beautiful way to meet other souls. I am Shinbobi-Feather for various reasons. My master creates multiple online identities, and incarnates through aspect driven personality devices. The master trained in ancient Japanese arts from the age of 12, including karate ninjitsu and kung fu. One day, as she was walking through the woods.. a stormwater laneway that separated suburbs.. leading toward a public golf course.. willows edging the cusps.. she walked, and walked until the sun was dying to set. She set out after 1 week of training, and made her meet with the object of her desire. At one exact moment. During the process of the setting sun, she cast a spell every day for 6 days. It was a spell of visible, invisibility. Not knowing what that mean, she still walked toward the dying light, every day for 6 days. On the 7 day, as the light was dying.. all but dead.. and in the twilight moments separating the worlds, my master had a vision. She walked from the cul-d-sac into the laneway, as she often steps between different places. And as she kept moving, on the inside.. of her mind.. she noticed the most peculiar thing-> as one felt themself shift on the inside, she noticed that those who were walking their dog toward her fell upon an eery sleep. Like the walking dreamer. A dog sniffed at her passing shoes, but to her startled surprise nothing else could lay an eye upon her. At the very moment that her eyes remained awakened to the world around her, and nighttime descended.. at the exact point that she felt she was truly invisible, even to the birds flying by.. she found floating on the wind, right down into her hand.. a pure.. black.. feather. |
