| My uncle had a bike. One night on a dark highway out in the middle of bumfuck some drunk in a coupe swerves into his lane. Oddly enough his body got kinda lodged in the passenger seat's window, and was ripped away from his bike and basically dragged by his torso at 50 miles and hour for a couple minutes. Now he's crippled for life. And THAT is why I stay away from motorcycles. |

| about six hours and every part of me hurts.... except my ass in which i cant feel anymore. I love to ride but theres no way i would want to ride around this country w/ no destination in mind...maybe a planned trip with plenty of stops to visit and see would work... good luck on your find..and imo if you want to ride for longer trips dont buy a damn sports bike...buy a nice cruiser for cruising.. |

| pure freedom, like riding a horse and just asssore bikes are great, but you gotta respect it or they're dangerous. I have a lowered, '91, 1200cc HD Sportster. Slightly raked and extended. It's definately a cruiser. But My skinny ass doesnt have enough weight with the shortened springs, so it rides like a hard tail when I'm the only rider. Good gas mileage, well ok anyway. It'll go fast, but I'm in no hurry and dont like the feeling of wheel flop at high speeds hehe. |

| I love my bike!!!! 2004 Chopper Works Custom. The only thing I don't like about riding is the other drivers, they almost never show any care/respect for bikers. My friends and I were out riding just the other day, and some jerk thought it would be funny to try to squeeze his F150 pick-up in between our pack. My frined had to almost lay his bike down to avoid him. |

POST PICS! (of ur dream bike if concerned about privacy/safety)

| where was the warning about saftey or caution when you started this thread? maybe im off-base but a question such as the one this thread is asking, should come with a warning label sorry to chime in off-topic, but i wont be telling you or anyone online what i drive. not on this site at least. or others like it. you guys giving models and color specs etc really should edit your posts or make sure to change the ferrings to something different if yer serious. the only thing i have to say thats on-topic of this thread, is that a bike comes in real handy in this hobby ![]() |

| i used to ride alot since i was a teenager until mid 30s. then i broke both legs, an arm- had multiple surgeries and permanent pain , crippling disability for the last 15 years and the rest of my life. it was a blast but the price was too high. if i had it to do all over again think i'd stick to riding my bike on dirt

| a dream come true.... I had always wanted to try one of the superbikes......used to ride motocross (Husqvarna 500). Almost killed myself so stopped that. But remained interested in at least trying the crotch rocket thing. So this summer I borrowed an R6 (Yamaha) and had such a blast!!!! Saw the top end of 250kph.....said that was enuf....but she was still pulling like a bear! I luved the experience and survived....but I will know now that I will never buy one! hahahaha LOL ![]() |

| I took my 1985 Honda across the country and back right after graduating college in '02. Had a blast. Played it by ear the whole way, spending a week in the Badlands and Black hills in South Dakota camping. Then headed to San fran for a few weeks, and back across the southern states to the east coast then north back to where I used to live. I'm saving funds for a new bike to take to Alaska or Central America next summer/fall if everything works out.

| While sorta concidered a motorcycle, I have a 50cc honda ruckus. This is about how i look on it too. Zoom Zoom, thing only goes about 40mph tops, more like mid 30's, and gets about 90 mpg. Its fun as all hell however. I would be scared to death of anything faster. Hitting a squirell at 40mph is pretty terrifying.

| I have had Both dirt and street bikes..many in the past..used to race some in the deserts of Nevada. The best philosphy for a new rider is to remember that you are invisible and everyone else on the road is an asshole. I have had people look right at me and get over into my lane nearly killing me. "loud pipes save lives" but "they don't guarantee shit". Good luck..a nice bike ride can very spiritually fullfilling and quite an adrenalin rush at that. I would suggest getting one a step above what you think you can handle..that way you will always have a healthy respect for it's power. Once you think you have it mastered you'll go down!. There are only two type of riders those that have dumped it and those that will.

| I own, and ride a 1969 Triumph TR6C. She's an old bitch, but I rigged her up with a Bonneville head, and she moves out pretty good if ya ask me. She's got an unmistakable sound like all Triumphs of that era. She's not much to look at, but she does turn heads everywhere I go. I love it! ![]()

| Built myself a 125cc chopper a couple of years back, all I needed for touring the Norwegian countryside (at 16 yrs).. Prefer working up the finish on my convertibles now though, anybody else got an itchy fetish for old sportsters? Recently aquired a 72' Alfa Veloce Spider and a 78' e21 320/6 Baur... ![]() Returned from a week long roadtrip thru the Netherlands a coupla weeks ago, and am still blushing. All I dare recommend is that you consider the traffic situation in your general area first before windowshopping, my uncle killed his girlfriend and severly injured himself after being overlooked by a passing car (at 50 Km/h i might add). May sound corny, lest I am quite sincere, don't push your luck, I have done so myself, and bear the (well endowed) scars of consequence for it. For travelling, get yourself an open car, and a beautifully minded aquantince (who plays guitar preferably). The ride will be that much more rewarding, I promise. Sala kahle, Hobo

| What about the newer mods, are they worth their weight? Looking out for a cruiser when I'm old enough to get a heavy bike license (gotta be 21 over here). Then it'll either be an old Bonneville or some duked out harley...
