I used to be a rocker and into deftones, metallica (lol), etc. I still listen to the 'tones every so often, but it got really old listening to what I personally perceive as angst-ridden music all the time -no offense to anyone who enjoys metal, I still understand it. This lead me into the electronic direction; partially for the lack of words. I would say tribal-house and progressive/epic trance is my mainstay, with splashes of ragga/reggae and jazz with breaks and beats.

Spin Division - Promo Mix 11 (December 2004)
Roots Manuva --Run Come Save Me
Glenn Okada - Intelligent Design 12.27.2004
    Portishead - Trip-Hop Reconstruction
    Buju Banton
    PROVOCATIVE - 04-23-04 (hour 1) - Ariel Cybana
Medeski Martin and Wood - Friday Afternoon in the Universe

Yeah. I've saw em a couple of times. Its great that they have 3 singers with totally different voices that can all harmonize well.

On my computer desk right now, I have:

Zappa and Magma discs, as always.

    John Coltrane: Giant Steps

    Eric Dolphy: Out to Lunch

Two compilations of classic Jazz-Fusion tracks

And two discs by a band that I can't beleive I'm only just now getting into....Chick Corea/Stanley Clarke and Return to Forever. "Where Have I Known You Beore?" and "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy"

"Hymn..." is THE SHIT!!! (for my tastes anyway)

Every track on this one rules! Great tripping music.
    Some samples here.
