I just saw a piece about Arcosanti on TV and it looks pretty interesting. Does anyone have any experience with it?

The Arcosanti project is an experimental town, designed by architect Paolo Saleri for 5,000 inhabitants. It is an experiment in minimizing human impact on the environment, and its compact structures and large-scale solar greenhouses will occupy only 25 acres.

Tours of Arcosanti are given daily. It is 65 miles north of Phoenix, at I-17 exit 262 (Cordes Junction).

Soleri's residence, Cosanti, is at 6433 E Doubletree Ranch Rd., one mile west off N. Scottsdale Rd and one mile south of Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale. It is open daily, with self-guided tours available.

I thought the arcology theory was just sci-fi and simcity constructs, the arcosanti website is quite cool. Hope I get to live in one of them someday, that'd be the shit

how long has it been in existance, and has the ecological impact been reduced enough to call it a success?

Yeah but I can be pretty lazy...can't I just trade my valuable skills in exchange for someone else doing needed work?
