Scared the SHIT outta me!

I was out on a golf course this afternnon shooting some pictures for their brochure for next season and I walked right up on this BAD BOY..scared the SHIT outta me! I wasn't quite as close as it looks (300MM zoom lens). But it was close enough to make me skip a breath. I couldn't help but take more pics as I was walkin away.

crickey!
nice looking beastie.
once me & some of my buddies drove down South
and it was getting very late at night
so we pulled off the highway into a roadside park
and i crawled up on a picnic table and went to sleep.
i was rather surprised, the next morning,
to discover that i was sleeping only about 30 feet from a pier on a lake,
on said pier there were 2 big black alligators catching some sun.
we left soon after that.

I have learned that they are pretty docile when they are sunning.

They are amazing animals when u get close up to them like that..I guess I was 10 yards away at the most(in the closeup pics, I was on a tree stump)
Evolution has been kind to these bad boys!

Those are some awesome pics, Chip.
I used to live and work on a golf course several years ago and we had one that lived in between the 3rd and 4th hole. It was fun to listen to the stories of those that encounter him from time to time. That's good stuff!
