    Question Amatuer wants a Telescope

I have been thinking that I want to get a telescope to look at the night skies. I have never owned one and I am unsure as to what I should get insofar as MM and such. I want to be able to see stuff fairly well but I don't want to mortgage the farm to get it. Does anyone have any suggestion regarding what size and brand to get for a first(nice) telescope?
Also does anyone know if there are telescopes that can accept a digitial camera being hooked up to it?

    Thanks in advance

    Chip

that might help youu narrow it down, i would assume taking a telescope shot would work the same as taking a shot thru a microscope with the maco function...in other wprds yes i think it can be done without special adapters....but i have never tried with a telescope. only microscope. i would buy a tele from a reputable lensmaker...zeiss ...etc
