Lab work to identify 2,800-year-old mummy of shaman: scientists Chinese scientists are conducting laboratory work hoping to identify a 2,800-year-old mummy presumably of a shaman in the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The well-preserved mummy of a seemingly Caucasian man with a Roman nose and deep-set eyes was unearthed from a cluster of ancient tombs in 2003 and research work has been going on ever since. Archeologists found the mummy most intriguing because a sack of marijuana leaves was found buried alongside the corpse. The mummy remains intact in its original outfit despite the passage of time: leather hat, heavy coat and boots, huge earrings of copper and gold, a turquoise necklace, a copper laced stick in the right hand and a bronze ax in the left, according to Li Xiao, head of the heritage bureau in Turpan. Inside the leather coat, the man was wearing a dainty brown and red mantle, and his hands were crossed in front of his chest, said Li. "From his outfit and the marijuana leaves, which have been confirmed by international specialists to be ingredients for narcotic, we assume the man had been a shaman and had been between 40 and 50 years old when he died," said Li, a noted historian in Xinjiang. He said the corpse is about 1.2 meters long and its legs are at least 80 centimeters. Li and his colleagues are taking fabrics from the mummy's clothes for laboratory work, hoping to identify the mummy and unravel more mysteries of shaman clothing, culture and religion. The mummy was the best preserved one among some 600 excavated in 2003 from a cluster of 2,000 tombs in Turpan. Archeologists assume the tombs, which dated from the Bronze Age to the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907), belonged to several big clans. The tombs also produced a wide variety of stone implements, bronzeware, color chinaware pieces and knitwear. Source: Xinhua http://english.people.com.cn/200612/...23_335258.html

I love stuff like this. It's odd that he's white although white people do get around. The first three Dynasties in China appear to have been composed of black people. Coulds this guy have been of Aryan heritage? Anyway, it just goes to show you that when he was alive that there was good shit around and that he had some of it. He might have been a shaman. In the late 60's I knew people that dressed like that that lived in New York City. None of them had an axe but I'm sure that some had guns. |

![]() | re: dude Better start making shit( items, burials, history) now so that in 2000 years they can say " Wow," those two thousand and sixers were a crazy crowd:" I don't think like that. People think about who they are now, and what are the walk a rounds and life stings? Guess what people, nothing we will do will be saved forever, not like our ancestors. What is coming is death, is destruction. It's what’s in all our worst nightmares. It's what’s in our most fearful dreams, but it's also in the best of our situations. Some people are so lost they can never be found, and some people are so found it's beyond profound. Some people trapped in the middle don't know how much time they have left. So they so the best they can to get around the nest and make the best of this test. |

I sometimes wonder what may have happened in situations like this... Maybe a mystic from a Mediterranean culture said goodbye to his people one day and set out on a voyage of discovery... no set destination, just to see what was beyond the horizon. After getting lost at sea, he starves to death and his boat washes up on the Chinese coast somewhere with his body in it. The Chinese take his body apart and duplicate every part and mass produce exact replicas of him very inexpensively... just kidding... They figure that he is a healer of sorts from another culture far away and decide that he should be buried with all the accouterments and respect they'd give one of their own people of the same caliber. 2800 years later, his tomb is found and experts are baffled by what they find. Anyone else think this is plausible?

This just goes to show that if you are involved with illegal drugs, you will be found out someday. It might take a lot of days, but eventually all stashes are revealed. BUSTED! I am frankly surprised that there are so few reports of burials being found with similar headly artifacts. Maybe they are found, but are thgouht to be too awkward to report, or are misinterpreted? Look at the cave paintings in the Tassili Plateau of the 8000 year old mushroom shaman, for example. I say we drug test all mummies found anywhere. I'd bet the results would surprise many people (but not all!)... And BraveheartMyco, get outside and take a nice walk, preferably in some woods or something. Try to keep in mind that athough your brain is a small part of the Universe, the whole Universe manages to fit inside it. Therefore, to transform the Universe, change your mind. Seriously.
