Calling all Artists & Craftsmen: Mycotopian Offerings & COOP

well, i'm making some good progress on getting ready to open up
    my little hippy store here
    and i thought-
'hey, why not ask and see if any of our members
would like to form a kind of co-op with me,
    e.g. i could help sell your crafts/arts
    thru my store.
you'd get free advertizing on a site that gets over 9 million visits a month
and i'd just add a small mark-up on the price
    to earn my profit.
kind of like consignment, where you give your goods to another to sell
then he pays you the fee once sold.
i wouldn't even need to have actual possession of the items to sell,
i could just forward you the buyer's address once the sale is made.

so, what have you got ?
we're open to ceramic stuff, posters, t-shirts, glass, scales,
just about anything and everything you'd see at your
    typical head shop.
if you think it would sell,
    get with me.
some pix of your merchandise would be good,
i just bought me a new digi cam yesterday
so i can start assembling a catalogue to post here.
    talk to me, people.
    we can make this happen
and we'll all be better off for it.

i would be interested in doing a watercolor series. signed paintings of say 100 small paintings. my question is , do you have limits on what the images can be. for example. no paintings of a potleaf, no paintings of a magic mushie. dont want you to get into any legal type problems (although i cant see how). just trying to keep any unnecessary heat off of you.

    From another thread:

"we're going to also be selling bad-ass incense burners
    hand-painted by my wife,
dragons and demons and shroomy stuff."

OK so I'm pretty sure the idea I am about to present has been presented to a person before now, I just can't friggin' find any, so I will present my idea here. I'm chaulk full of these, ya' know?!!! lol So anyway yesterday I was cooking bacon and I noticed that each time I flipped the bacon the spatula would get all greasy and I would have to set it down as one can't just walk around the house with a spatula. If you put it on the counter then you make both the counter and likely the spatula dirty; I wound up using a half-pint wide-mouth and the spatula fit fairly well. And I began to look at the spatula, it's design, it's angles and the way it flowed. It sent me good vibes, I'll be honest. And the grease slowly dripped off the spatula into the jar, sort of like the idea behind a drip shield in a terrarium. And I got to thinking, "What real remedies could be offered here?" The creation of small ceramic pieces is easy enough, so I set out designing with a friend of mine. We figured the most efficient design would be a piece about 6"x1"x1" either made of stone or ceramic. Best comparison I might be able to give is something similar to a pumace stone though obviously its porous nature would defeat our purpose here. So if it's ceramic you could get fun with it and it would be easier - you'd have to carve the rock; just make a horizontal line running the whole width of the ceramic that would just be a sort of groove to sit the spatula into. Then, around the edge, make a sort of moat so that any excess that drips off would just be retained there. It strikes me as a useful item that could be custom-made at low cost. And I can't find any on the internet (what do you even search for?), so I'm going to have to go to my school's Art Club to make myself a prototype. I have this other ashtray design that I'm prototyping that will revolutionize smoking pipes/bowls but there's still much work to be done there, but I'll keep you posted as developments develop.

[EDIT: I had no idea where to talk about these ideas so instead of making my own thread I just slapped it here - hope you don't mind and that it might actually be somewhat useful lol]

[EDIT: Yeah, another one. So no sooner do I say all this and continue to look and find http://www.cayneshousewares.com/cgi-...=Spoon%20Rests . I'm still making my own, though, because those fruit ones aren't my style and the stainless ones are too expensive. I can see this being an area to capitalize, though not necissarily with hippies...then again, everyone's gotta' cook, right?]

hi hippie long time no see... I have a aboundance of trippy music I wrote which I could offer exclusivley at your website.. everything is royaltee-free, original home grown vibes. New-age/ambient/downtemp/eletronic music is the genre of which..

What we need to do is create a way to play samples or lower quality copies of these songs directly in the store so cats can taste before they buy.

    What do you think?

Do we have any glass blowers in the house? I want to start, but I can't seem to find any info on how to learn. So if anyone knows tell me, but besides that if we have some glass blowers here Hip, you could really do well selling those. Especially if you took custom orders, (that's if the glass blower is that good) Everybody wants something customized, especially your own piece!

Hey Jasper. That's some nice stuff. I have a friend in Florida that makes similar pieces out of coconuts. I should try to see if he wants to sell something. There pretty cheap if I remember correctly.

    ok,
i opened the old 'myco-offerings' forum
    http://forums.mycotopia.net/showthre...892#post173892
this is where we'll be trying to sell our & your products
until a website offsite is built.
any one can post in the new forum
but only members of my COOP will be
    able to start threads.
    you'll need the password
which i'll provide once you join.
    so
    lemme know,
    let's get this show
    on the road.
    thx

oh, you mean a store in the real world ?
    nah, way too expensive.
web-based is the wave of the future.
we figure to visit our local head shops and markets
to sell some but no store of our own.
    maybe someday.

sounds good. eventually maybe you can make a storefront, and if all goes well, branch out to different states. since the member base here is all over. if the right people invested, you could have a coast to coast chain.
just a pipedream im spouting, but its doable

    http://forums.mycotopia.net/showthre...260#post174260
i know the prices are a bit high
but it does include packaging and shipping
plus we're talking extra scent oil,
hand-made with TLC by fellow freaks
    not some mega-corp like wal-mart.
