I feel like a small child at x-mas! I believe that the toad is a girl because the lack of color on the thumbs and the way she was blown up so much. She was placed under a little wood thing so she can warm up and get comfortable. I may try to feed her some crickets this evening ![]() I don't plan on bothering her for a little while. Just to make sure she is happy, and eating. |

If you do get around to drying out some toad venom and smoking it, you'll probably only do it once. I've tried it, and it was kind of like an elephant was sitting on my head, not exactly painful but definitely not pleasant. I was not in a good setting, but only a little more in the bowl and I'm sure setting would be irrelevant. I was actually able to change my setting during the rush...I got up and ran out of my friends' house and sat by the creek flowing by his land and held my hand on the surface the water until the rush subsided. I absolutely could not stay in his house. It came on full-speed before I could exhale the hit, which was fascinating, but I got the message and now I'm trying for just plain DMT. I don't regret it, but feel no need to repeat it. Some people like it, apparently, but I don't know them. She is cute, however.

yeah Golly, I'm gonna get crickets, some mill worms, and once shes gets a bit older I'll get her some mice. I'll ask every time I go to the pet store for a pinky mice. If they have one I'll get it for her then. Pet stores around here always have small ones but don't always have 'em that small. The toad will get larger too. She is six months old and they usually are full grown around a year or a little more. (So the limited info. on the net reads). Sweetness says they will eat in a month approx. 2 mice 100 mill worms and 2 dozen crickets BIG eaters huh? |

very cool. have you given her any mice yet? it's kind of a strange show. i don't know about that particular breed but you may want to feed them to her where she can drag them underwater. i had frogs that would do that. saved them from too many nasty bites. doh. nevermind, just saw the pinky part. hehe just wait til ya feed her a full grown mouse.

In less than one month this lady has put on some weight. Is it possible that she can eat to much and be unhealthy? She does not eat every day, even if I try to get her to. But every other day she rips through 10 or so crickets like she is starving. As fast as I can dust 'em, break their knees(so she has the advantage and they don't jump away) and toss them in, she has them in her mouth. She loves meal worms too ![]() *Then* Lollipop 004.jpg Lollipop 003.jpg *Now* 2007_0320Image0001.JPG |

BBB is a sponsor and did a great job with our toad. My suggestion would be to contact them with your interest and wait for a reply just as we did. ![]() Best of Luck to you.

Maybe sometime we will, there are details here in the archives and on the net, the only thing that I have found to be challenging is to hit the plate. In the description it says to milk above the plate, this is almost impossible cause the venom comes out like your popping a pimple. So holding the toad under clear glass and having the glands facing you. This allows the venom to "pop" up toward you, on the glass and if she/he decides to piss, well hopefully you have something under her/him to catch that. To give you a visual of what I'm talking about, Imagine a clear glass coffee table... your head hovering over the table... the toad in your hands below the table... and when you squeeze the gland, it squirts on the bottom of the table. This is the concept... http://archives.mycotopia.net/discus...tml?1077071711 and heres the milking process http://archives.mycotopia.net/discus...s/5/13004.html |

Nice Toad! Just some advice, MealWorm are a NO NO. The meal worm will not die right away and have been known Quite frequently to eat from the inside out People's frogs toads and Lizards. You can pinch off the head, but to do that all the time ... i don't know. The best food is Giant Earthworms gut loaded on High protien Premium dog food. Worms are at WalMart or you fishing store. When Toad is big enough you can feed baby pinkie mice. Make sure to vary the diet all the time so as to mimic nature. From experience, feeding toad the same thing all the time slows venom production, and makes weak gland sauce. Hope you enjoy your Ally!!! |

Her diet varies as she does not eat the same thing all the time. Any thing we feed her is either gut loaded or dusted in vitamins like shake and bake. ![]() Her appetite is great and she is very happy. She is growing like a weed. I can't believe her growth from the time we got her till now. ![]() Thanks for the compliments, Merm

I been giving her live fuzzy mice,(alive) well that has been a battle to find em live. So Merm thought that giving her a frozen one may work. Despite what we have read about them not eating frozen ones. Tonight we bought two to see. I thawed them and with some learning on my part(there is a technique...lol) we were successful. She ate two of them,,,,,gulp gulp. So now I'm thinking that I can take the vitamins and the calcium, mix em up with a bit of water and with a dropper inject the goodies in the belly of the mice then feed em to her. What ya think?

Its kinda like popping the biggest zit in the world, but not much really comes out. The hardest part is finding a good position to hold the toad while you can still manage to squeeze the glands on its legs and behind its eyes. It's easiest done with 3 people. one supporting the toad, one milking, and one more is nice to have your plate maneuverable. I use a large plate and keep it close. The venom can have some pressure behind it. I've had streaks shoot more than 6 feet. If the toads skin was looser and you could pull the gland out a bit before squeezing it would make it a lot easier, but he looks uncomfortable as it is so i just keep it light. It dries in hours. You can easily scrape it up with a razor blade and it turns into an almost crystally substance. | |
