Mr. Bufo's midnight snack

So I came home after a night with some friends and found a large "walking leaf" in my bathroom. I'm pretty sure one of the cats brought it inside judging by its broken leg. I took it into the kitchen for better light to get some pictures before letting it go outside.

On my way out the door I walked by the toads tank and figured why not. bug doesn't have many chances with a screwed up leg anyhow... I dropped the bug in the tank and mr bufo didn't realize what it was. Gave me long enough to take a good pic before the bug started moving around again and gave itself away. Soon as the toad went for it it disappeared in one swift bite

Mr Bufo's name is Dimitri.

he is of course a bufo alvarius if thats what you were asking bongo.

do all frogs have sidways 'cat eyes' like that??

I did a quick google search and found that all frogs/toads do not have the same sideways cat eyes... some have normalish cat eyes that are verticle, and some have nearly round pupils.

Anyhow. A cicadas ventured in my home last night. first time i've seen one this close that was still alive. The cats seemed to have mangled this one pretty good cause i thought it was dead all night. it didn't move at all other than 1 little twitch when i picked it up to put it in the container. I woke up to a ton of noise coming from the container it was in and decided mr bufo deserves another big meal...

I dropped it in the cage and the bug plays dead again. maybe its common self defense. I sprinkled some water on it to get it moving and the frog snatched it up in one bite just like the last one

It startled me quite a bit how fast he got it. I was trying to take a last picture and BAM!. if only i pushed the button i would have caught him with his tongue out.
