heres a couple of my casings and a single cake. both casings are amazon, and the cake is tex. i hope to get some bigguns off these. the round one is 2 pints of wbs and the ice box is 3 pints. the subs are very deep, so i hope to get some bigguns. i have a shatload of mex-pal pints 90-100% done, but i have to wait for my "window" to actually put them to use. i will post pics as they grow. stay tuned for more |

I have 3 straight-vermiculite casings of WBS right now which are fruiting, and they're the first casings I've made. With about 2-3" of substrate, the fruits are pretty small (3-5" with thin stems). I think it's good that you've used quite a bit more. I have heard that WBS tends to produce small fruits when cased instead of spawned, and I also had problems because it took me a while to figure out how much to water them. Make sure to keep those bad boys well nourished!

ok, i built a little log thingy with a rediculous amount of spawn. there are two full pints packed into this little log, and its all layered and mixed for quick colonization.....hopefully. the myc is already recovering and growing out, so i think it will do fine. the pic sucks, cuz there is a lot of moisture on the bag and there is glare, sorry

still no pins on the casings, but the log is really taking off. i think the huge amount of spawn will really cut down on the colonization time. it has shown a shatload of growth since i made it. it is mex-pal from a dark ass karo syringe. the grain colonization speed was phenomenal. less than a week for the rye pints, and a lil longer on the pcorn. i will get some more pics up when they actually start pinning

Cub in the third pick has spores dripping off it's veil, looks like it got excited before it stripped. Seriously though, amazing close-ups, I can see the individual fibers through your photos better than if it were in front of me. That must be a happy Xbox.
