![]() | 'Shoe's Cambodian, Blue meanie, Azurescens & Semilancaeta growthread' Hi all! Made my welcomes just this morn in the general chat section, so here I am with my growlog. this season I will be working with p. cubensis cambodian strain, apparently straight from the magnicient temple of ankor wat (I HIGHLY reccomend you do a google images for it) Anyway enough banter, here we go: Round one; first colonizers from a MS innoculation. Day 10. first one isn't good. Slow growht I think due to temps hitting 40*C at one point. didn't have my aquarium heater yet, so.. Whoops! Nevermind,.. ![]() This one was fine and thats all I needed... Round Two: post g2g transfer, day 2. ![]() these guys 'bating too: 79 - 80F ![]() My setup generally: aquarium heater and petris / slants: ![]() Precious substrates: ![]() ![]() Glovebox (need a new one soon i think!): ![]() King tub: ![]() (Usually tuck a blanket over this for darkness and some insulation) Will post more pics as I take 'em! If anyone is on UKC im also on there with a growthread. ![]() Ciao for growers! ![]() Shoe Last edited by hyphaenation : 03-28-08 at 04:51. Reason: uploaded pics to server |

![]() | You are experienced in this eh.... I like your substrates .This will be something to see indefinitely. I'm jealous because the cambodian spore syringe I got turned out to be a dud. The cambo does not honor me but it likes you , you must be special xD.Good luck I can't wait to see this. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Shoe. Hey hows it going. I took the time to upload your pics from the photobucket. I did this because as soon as the files expire over there, your lovely pictures would show up as dead links here. Its quite easy to upload pics here and we highly recommend it so in the long run these threads can last to teach people. Nice to meet you. Good Cambo thread. I hope you don't mind the editing. I just thought it would be easier this way. You can move the pictures around in your thread if I messed up. cheers H

![]() | Hyphaenation: Sweet dude, cheers very much. saico: shame to hear about your cambodian. Check out ankor wat; the temple in cambodia where this strain was collected. Sheesh! I wanna go someday /me adds it to the list with goa and a few othersvinz: will do next time buddy. Gonna use Rye grain and Wheat Straw. Also, for the azurescens which is coming, i've got aldar chips but am trying to locate a cheaper and more readilly available hardwood chip. should be fine. Also, karo light and honey for LC's, and saboroud dextrose agar for petri work. fingers crossed The cambodians do seem to be colonizing quite quick - some of the faster half pint jars done with g2g seem to be 80% done in like 4 - 5 days. My estimate at this point is 7 - 8 days for complete colonization (i.e g2g shaves a day off the 9 day target i've seen alot of ppl mentioning.) I certainly do like to load them up with a fair whack of colonized berries; goes better. Ddial8: Thankyou matey! nice to meet ya! Everyone: Ok unfortuantely I have had to toss the 4xAgars and 4xSlants (bacteria, no germination) not good. Nevermind, I will be making more agar plates; and also there are four colonizing at the moment with a few colonized berries in each. they've attached to the agar medium now, so all looks well. Unfortunately my kid son got at the box and I think one of them got opened. that'll be fucked then! wh00ps. Also, other bad news, the massive bag of rye I had germinating, after ages of no germination, I finally noticed that it had sprung the tiniest, tiniest hole during PCing (or who knows, perhaps the bag was damaged to begin with) and because of that there is wet spot running riot around that point. ffffs... This grow has been decidely shakey from the beginning, what with the temperatures getting out of control and cooking everything, and now the contam attacks. This isn't my usual style, I promise!! LOL Im going to endevour to take more care from this point onwards, before it gets too critical. On the PLUS side, 4 jars are doing extremely well and have colonized to 60% in a matter of 3 days. So, those have been labeled 'P. C Cambodian FAST' since they were from a multispore innoc. Atleast one will become a g2g master and be refridgerated. Perhaps they all become g2g masters, depends how big im going for! [the plan at the moment is to get enough spawn for 4 x bulk storage boxes, - of the BLUE kind in the picture, filled to about 0.75 Foot depth and cased with 50/50. Pics soon d00dz! Shoe |

![]() | saico, stony_dude: Cheers verymuch chaps. Pleasure to be here. I find mycotopia a very friendly place D Anyway, today I made up some new plates with the last 2ml of cambodian spores which went very far indeed. I also took appart a print I got from a guy (P. Cubensis Blue Meanies) and started them on plates too. This is after I made up some new agar medium, with the storebought agar tek - with a bit of a twist. Heres the recepie: (P.S I altered the quanties because for my agar agar powder 1/4 cup makes near 1 litre of medium. Im still working on this recipie but your free to try it. Seemed to solidify okay but I still think its a bit heavy on the agar agar. ---------------------------------- shoes special agar tek 1 1/2 - 2 cups distilled water (depending on your agar) 3 1/2 tablespoon potato flakes 1/4 cup agar agar powder 1 teaspoon honey 1/4 teaspoon yeast extract (marmite) Make with boiled distilled water, and pour into glass petri's. If you don't have glass petri dishes, pour into a jar and PC. PC The petri dishes and agar medium for 30 mins at 15 psi. Then pour into pre-sterilised dishes and/or allow to cool. ----------------------------------- I also took the time to do some liquid cultures: again, with my own variation of the karo recipie. It strikes me that karo itself is too pure and refined to allow good myc growth (where are all the micronutrients?!) so I added a variation. ------------------------------ Shoe's Karo LC Tek with micronutrients! 1 Cup Distilled water 1 Teasp Karo 1 Teasp Clear Honey 1/4 Teasp Yeast Extract (Marmite) 1/4 Teasp Instant Coffee (Carté Noir) ------------------------------ Boy i'd sure like some peptone to zap this up. Nevermind, I've got some premix antibiotic agar on order. I've also done just the plain karo recipie (1 cup d.w / 2 tsp karo) in two jars to see if we can race them! We'll see which colonizes the best and the fastest. Im hoping it'll be my marmite/honey/coffee twist. I feel that pure karo is too pure and limited in its range of nutrients to really provide proper mycelial growth. I personally beleive that since yeast allready has absoloutely everything required for fungal growth (yeast is a single celled fungus) it will promote very healthy LONG TERM mycelial growth. Piccies! |

![]() | Very cool Shoe I have some liters of rye berry (Mestizo on one, malaysian on the others). haven't tried to grow this method but I like how you are detailing what you are doing. I can't wait to see what you have planned. Best of Luck. ![]() ![]() ![]() :head bang:![]() ![]() ![]() :head bang:![]() |

![]() | Unforgivable ;]. JK Just flip the plates around so the water doesn't drop on agar. I just made some agar plates that are pretty translucent, so I don't mind watching the plates from the bottom .We'll be watching that one. More exotics!! ![]()

Yeah it was stored upside down; its just the right way around for photographing. TBH Im not sure if this IS p. semilancaeta, the mycellium seems to eminate from the plate, but where it touches the malt agar medium it seems to leave a greenish colour. Im not sure whether this is just the gentamycin sulphate breaking down, or something. Or whether this is actually a mould. Who knows, i've cloned it up anyway. | |

![]() | Good that you already isolated semi. No signs of rhizo on tbh (what's that anyway?) at all? Let it grow some more. Yesterday I discovered how I duped myself cultivating a huge fluffy contam and thinking it was myc for over a month, lol. Although I still don't know what the hell it was. Something ugly and smelly :P.

![]() | Tbh = To be honest yea, it is fairly rhizo in appearance but it seems alot more vertical than any cubensis mycellium i've ever seen, which makes me think it is a mould or competing fungus. Allbeit a nice white one... |
