![]() ![]() | the free edibles culture thread
this works just like the free magic spores thread but with cultures(or prints) of edibles please only post in this thread if you have something to offer AND it must be clean and cultivatable if you post a offer you get the culture offered above so for example acceptable offers would be plueroteus pulmonaris or any other edible (sp?) on agar, grain, plugs, toothpics, culture syringe, slants or even a clean print taken from a indoor grown specimen a unacceptable offer would be something like offering a print from a outdoor grown specimen or from a species that is not generally possible to cultivate at home such as chanterelles or boletes basically what I am saying is to offer quality cultures that can be grown out easily with little hassle, with this that makes living cultures from a clone much preffered. ohh yeah, I am going to state the obvious here this is only for EDIBLES, is you're looking for magic spores this is the wrong thread so I will make the first offer VVVV gets pleuroteus pulmonaris vvvv PM me with shipping info |

bump. Still no takers on the Kambucha? I have been doing a bit of mushroom hunting and have started clone cultures of a couple tasty ones I've found to be adding to the thread if it ever gets moving again.... (and I had them verified by a local mycology Ph.D. to be what I thought they were just to be safe). VVVV Yerbaadam's Kambucha VVVV |

I currently have what I believe to be Agaricus osceanus on agar, as shown here: http://forums.mycotopia.net/showthread.php?t=14492 (Mmmmm Agaricus and some Mush ID help, please.) I can put them in vacutainors as well. And am currently looking for Stropharia s.r., Hypzigus ulmarius & tessulatus, Pleurotus citrinopileatus & djamor & eryngii and Sparissa sp. Very interested in Agaricus subrefescens and blazei. Also Lepista nuda. (lol, mushrooms are like pokemon... you gotta collect them all!) Will soon (within next couple of months) have Hericium erinaceus and Grifola frondosa and Ganoderma lucidem (original wild strains).

OT: I really like to jump in here with you guys. I'm interested with edibles only(except reshi). But all i got are flat bottles(PDA cultures) of Pleurutos florida(Oyster) and Volvariela volva(Straw Mushroom)... IN FLAT BOTTLES! Besides that it would cost me much to ship these out to you guys, im afraid that i might get stuck at the customs bureau. Here is a picture of my Volvariela volva in the flat bottle: ![]() I wasnt able to take pictures of my Oyster culture in bottles 'coz they where not yet fully colonized at that time, but i do have two bottles of it. But if you might get interested with dried specimen, you can choose any from this thread: http://forums.mycotopia.net/showthread.php?t=13915 (Shrooms in my Backyard) Specially specimen #2, #11, and #22. ...sorry for the long OT...

*bump* no worries Jack, I actually broke the give/get string b4 you did! I hope this thread catches on and doesn't just go the into the depths... Alpiner has great idea with this. I think it should just be peeps posting what they have to offer/trade though, as opposed to waiting for someone else to take what you don't want and post something you want. In fact, I think its a good enough idea to become a sticky in the marketplace! But thats just me..... Anyone else agree?

I am trying to clone Coprinus Comatus and Macrolepiota Rachodes right now so I can't offer those up yet. I have never tried Kambucha, but in the interest of keeping this going, I will take it and offer up ummmm... VVV Hericum Erinaceus (Lion's Mane) on toothpicks VVV |

My apologies. Its A. osecanus. I misspelled before. Perhaps a variety of A. arvensis- regardless they would be kissing cousings and they taste great.

I'll trade my shiitake for oysters. I have an open bag of plug spawn from Sporeworks. . .do you know of a way I could transfer them to you now that they've been opened without them contaminating? If not, I'll set some to spawn on popcorn here tomorrow |

Erm, a little off topic here, but maybe this should go in Mycotopian Offerings instead of here in the Contests & Calendar Events section, being as this thread isn't about a contest. Sorry bout this guys.

We need a permanent home for trading edibles. Not so sure the offer /\/\/ take /\/\/ offer /\/\/ take thing will work in this case. We need to be more creative so folks know what others have to offer at any current moment. Any thoughts? H

We could list what we're willing to trade. And as trades go on we can update our lists (remove or add those available). The most current post by a person will contain everything he or she has to trade. It's a slight embellishment of Jake's idea. Simple, but nothing difficult is necessary. Maybe, as a rule, if you want a certain type of mushroom, you take it from the last person who posted who has that type of mushroom. Then the trading will get spread out. |

Reishi isn't really "edible" either. In that it's not really tasty. By the by, I do have some Reishi growing/fruiting, and some Lion's Mane. And some Enoki not yet fruiting. I don't have spores or a clone going/mycelial culture from any of those yet. If I manage to get a good clone or possibly to collect some spores I'll have some to 'trade'/offer. ^_^ | |

Wow... WhO CAReS..... YiKEs! AgreeD wiTH, I thinK it Was THe jeSus whO menTionEd, "Cubies, pans, they are ALL ediBLE" or something to that effect. If you don't think reishi is edible, that's fine by me. ENjoy your cancer instead or whatever you want. Damn. Reishi, as you know is considered one of the most valuable medicinal mushrooms on the planet, just under cordyceps. If that isn't good enough to "EAT", i will have to track down some spores to grow god's shit, but then again, maybe that's not edible enough. Think about the food you put into your body. If you have ever eaten deep fried fake chicken or eaten a poori at indian restaurant, or eaten a slim jim. These things may not really be "food" ok, but they are edible, depending on your definition. SO if you have ever eaten somthing like that, then, just maybe, you will also consider a powerfull ancient medicinal organism, highly digestable (unlike the deep fried tvp "chicken"), as edible. Maybe not. It's all a matter of your perception. Enjoy what you want in this reality. No problem. I'll offer a slant of Ganoderma Lucidium (reishi). I cloned it from a healthy wild specimen last fall, and it is a great FAST set of genes. Last time we tried the free edibles thing, I sent out my end of the deal and never got what i was promised. No big deal. The person who never sent to me knows who they are. But like the free magic spore thread, people in this comunity should step up to plate and be honest and generous and AT LEAST cover their side of a deal, if not go a little further and throw in some nice treats. ANyhoo, (excuSe the rAnt) G. Lucidium, and also Kambucha up For graBS PM me. Big loVe, no matter what. >Yer friend, NascAR denDriTE duDLEy |

He's saying Reishi can "cure" cancer. If you say Reishi is not edible than you can "enjoy your cancer" because according to the line of thought ,you will get cancer if you don't consume it. BTW I like Reishi...

My appologies. REALLY. That was insensitive and out of line, and i am sorry. Don't take my nonsense too seriously, and I am really sorry to offend. I LASO have lost people to concer, and no i don't think reishi alone would have saved the day. It is a nice tool in the arsenal of fighting of tumors, cancerous cell growth, resperatory condition, etc. That's all i ment to comunicate. PLease accept my appologies. My statement was only intended to be helpfull, not hurtfull. I am still trying to get a handle on this verbal linguistics as a form of communication thing, and frankly, I admit i suck at it. NOTHING, but my deepest love and care for every one of you beings. And I mean it from the depths of my heart and soul. >Your friend, NAscAR denDriTE duDLEy |

I haven't tried edibles as of yet but have really wanted to give it a go. I just don't have enough knowledge on them. I would really hate to spend the time to grow them out and not like the taste of some of them. Give me a little time and I will hopefully join in on fun.

I seriously want to grow edibles, and I have the time and space - an 8X40 sunroom, but no starters. NOT asking for freebies, just advice. I was reading the archives on edibles, and besides ANY advice you can give about the best source for starters for oysters, shiitake, moritake, and reishi, especially, I have a major question... It was thought that a print from a real, live, wild, shiitake would be a great thing to have. I have a lady friend in Japan I can ask to obtain one for me. Anybody else ever actually get one? i have to say, we are interested in edibles/medicinals too. but i am waiting for my first expierment to come through. just to make sure i can do it. i will surely make space for some, money allowing. time and space isnt one of our issues either. not that this matters, but i dont like shitakes. all mushy and overcooked in food. can somebody give some examples of nice meaty/nutty shrooms. something along the flavor of morels and will add some texture to foods? |
