![]() ![]() ![]() | Mycotopia Book Exchange I've been kicking around an idea to have some kind of Mycotopia book exchange... it could be a way to cheaply read the books that are out there, and/or can be a way to help earn good trader trust for future larger trades if the opportunity ever arises. I've bought a book and will send it to one user who wishes to read it. All I ask, is that after you've read the book... you pay shipping and mail it to another user who wishes to read the book. After that user is done... they'll pay shipping and mail to another... get the picture? This will only work as long as the books don't disappear... I have lots of faith in Mycotopiates. As time goes on more books will be added to the exchange. (Other Mods have agreed to add to the cause...) Hopefully we can get something good going... You may donate a book to the exchnage if you like, however once donated the book becomes the property of the Mycotopia Exchange and will be used for trading. In order to qualify... (1) you must be an active member (checks in at least weekly) of our community (2) have a post count of at least 100. (3) must use a *safe* address within the US We'll keep a sticky thread at the top of this forum (Lifestyles) to keep track of who has what book and when they recieved it. Those sound like fair ground rules I hope... with all that out of the way... here's the book up for grabs... ![]() Title: BAD TRIP " How The War Against Drugs Is Destroying America Author: Joel Miller Any takers? |

![]() | I'll take it dude. Is there any time limit as far as how long we can keep it? I mean, I would try to read it quickly due to the purpose of the book exchange, but I often take a while to read a book due to work and hobbies.

![]() | Nice idea suckerfree. How about this though...: if someone wants to get a book from the book exchange to read, they have to donate a book. That way it keeps growing, and if there's a book you're interested in all you have to do is dig up an old one you don't want and send it in. That, or require at least one book donation before getting your first book. Another way to do it would be similar to the free spore thread. ie: "i'll take that! vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv Gets "A brief history of Everything" vvvvvvvvvvvvvv" Anywho, just throwing out some ideas. Very nice idea though.

![]() ![]() ![]() | thanks omni for the suggestions... one shouldn't always have to give something to get something... i see the book i'm about to send off more like a paper airplane. I'm going to throw it... and the next person picks it up and throws it too. hopefully the person i give the book to finds the same enjoyment of giving it away as i will... (and reading it of course!) I think getting something without first giving kinda puts a different feeling on a person... Any one is welcome to donate books at any time, all ya gotta do is give it away. i know some other folks have said that they want to donate some books.. so there's more coming.. if it takes off nicely and people are happy i'll for sure throw in more too. (who knows what the future holds... maybe cd's and dvds?!) |

I'd be up for donating books Can the books be about anything or should they relate to the whole theme of Mycotopia? Most the books I have pertaining to such topics are books I couldn't part with as they are reference books that I often look to again and again.

![]() | THE WAR ON DRUGS A war is when two armies are fighting each other so, can we all agree that its not a war? (same as iraq) There was no point in fighting on our side our theirs. Our energy would simply prevail. Free lunch, Final Knowledge, total coverage... Why not? Im sorry but its a great movie and an even better book. Bill Hicks sorce first stint & Gonzo Journalism |

![]() | Since there haven't been any other contributors yet, I will offer up each of the following books to help expand suckfree's book exchange. Remember, you must meet the requirements as posted by SF. One book per topiate and then when each is done with the book they can repost them here for other topiates. First is "Psilocybin Magic Mushroom Growers Guide" by O.T. Oss & O.N. Oeric. To be honest there's much more up-to-date information to be found on Mycotopia alone, but if you were still thinking of picking up a copy it's yours if you want it. ![]() Next is "The Gnostic Gospels" by Elaine Pagels. Being born and raised in an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist home and school, I have been reading a lot lately on Christianities that many never knew existed. This is one of those books which presents information on the Gnostic view of Christianity and how the world might be different had some of the Gnostic books of the Bible been accepted. ![]() Lastly is another book about Gnosticism, but only focuses on one of the Gnostic books of the Bible. It is "The Secret Book of John - The Gnostic Gospel: annotated & explained". Supposedly written by John the Apostle, but more than likely written by someone else using the name of the apostle, this is a very different style of Christianity. One in which the God of the Old Testament, creator of the world, is not THE ONE all powerful God and was even unaware that a God more powerful than he existed. ![]()

PM me your safe address and it's yours, just please pass it on when you're done. Maybe CoyoteMesc will have 100 posts by then. Hey Coyote, I thought you've been a member here for a while now but it says you joined up Jan 2007. I could have sworn I read posts from you before then.. am I experiencing deja vu or what??

![]() | SafTman, Your book was mailed out today. You should get it in 4-7 days. Don't forget to pass it on when your done. So, no takers on the books on Gnosticism? Hmm...I've got "Food of the Gods" and "DMT: The Spirit Molecule", but I'm debating on those two books. I may want to read them again, esp. "DMT". I will think on that a little more...**don't be so selfish cheebabear!** ![]()

![]() | Well, there doesn't seem to be a lot of response to this thread. That's a shame. I'm reading 'Bad Trip' at the moment, and even though I haven't gotten very far into it yet, I already can tell it is going to be an interesting read. Until I've finished reading 'Bad Trip' and since no one seems to be interested in the gnostic books, I offer to you fellow 'Topiates Terence McKenna's Food of the Gods: ![]() Any takers?
