New Good Traders List

Alright so like i said in the other thread this list is far from finished and up to date its just a start and something people can search easier. If you want to add someone to the list please put it in this thread and than as i am the original poster i can keep updating it as ppl get added to it.

So whats happening here is everytime someone says your a good trader your name gets added to the list. Everytime you get another vote as a good trader a * will be added next to your name.

ahh i c. i thought i would be able to edit it forever i was not aware of that. I guess another way will have to be found for updateing. And i know i probably missed a shitlaod of names the list has to be gone through again one more time and also like i said about half of page 4 and all of page 5 is missing.

What do you guys think of a system where if someone gets say 10 stars they become a "Awesome Trader" And require no more votes? It would be easier to keep organized that way.

Not really needed to have an all star trader page or anything like that. The good traders page does it job well. it has been there for a while, and if you read over it once you get an idea of what's going down here. people that treat each other well and do fair trades, continue to do them. those that are trying to get a handout or freebie are easily weeded out. people that continue to burn people aren't around long.

This is something that Hippie and the mods will have to discuss and Hippie will have to ultimately make any decisions like this. The only way that a "master list" could be used in the first post and then updated accordingly would be if a moderator took that on as a personal responsibility and that really asking a lot of that mod because it would be or could be a major PITA.

I agree, I doubt that they will go for an "Awesome Trader" or an "All-star" list, pretty unnecessary IMO.

I think that it's very cool of the both of you guys to have taken the time to compile the list in a neat and orderly manner. Keeping this list updated is a task, and I'm not sure that any mod really wants to assume that responsibility. I'm sure that they will have a chat about it and do some decision making though.

Of course i certainly understand that it would be there responsibility to update it and keep it in order or just leave things alone. Also the only reasoning behind a Ultimate trader status would be to eliminate some of the mess. Once someone reaches that status they dont need any more votes and therefore less posts cluttering the thread.

I think what we want to stay away from is a popularity contest for trading. Even the best traders could run into problems.

heck im on the good traders list afew times and on this list im not even listed at all.i think it should stay the way it was that way people dont get Left off.

Yeah, I added scanman in the early stages of this thread I believe. Scanman the man.

It's for a little bit of recognition that you are not a rip-off artist and that people can trust you. Alright i told you all already the list isnt complete and not all the names are on it but your still bitchin cuz i missed your name a couple times? It took me 2 hours to go through all of this and im sure it took wendal some time to alphabatize it... And of course i know shit happens even with good traders but then what is the point of this list even? Would you rather have to keep adding stars to someones name because they trade once a week or would you rather have them be listed a good trader and not have to worry about the forum more cluttered with 35 ppl saying he's a good trader? I honestly dont see how thats any better than a good trader list. what if 100 people say hes a good trader? Thats not gonna make someone any better than if they were on a list that said they were in general good traders. Its not a popularity contest but i see no reason to keep saying the same people are good traders at least once every couple of days.

But as far as this project goes im done untill hippie or a mod decides what they wanna do with it.

Actually a pretty clever idea.
But, as you've already proven, maintainence of a thread like this would be almost a full-time job with the several hundred registered users here.

I looked into exactly what you are proposing.
Here was the suggestion given to me:

At the top of each thread (within the thread header bar) there is a "search" function.
Should you have any questions about trading with someone, use the search function to look for a referral for that person.
In this manner, the thread continues to grow without need for regular updating.
Granted, it's not a "cure all", but rather a middle of the road solution.
You are in a great community here. If you get shafted on a trade.......you contact me personally and I'll see if I can hook you up.
That is how confident I am that you won't get burned - so long as you cover your own back first.

Look at such items as post count.
Further, look at some of their post content (since even a simple "congrats" or "hmm" counts as a post.)
Go to that person's public profile
Look at the threads they've started
Look at their posts
If you don't trust 'em.....I doubt you'll have to wait long to find someone else to trade with.
