Blue Oyster Mycelium

These are wheat grain jars at about day 10. Syringes from spore works. Very professional I might add and clean!

Picture 3 and 4 show a silver line. Everything above that line is mycelium air and glass. The grain stops right around the line.

In pic 5 and 6 the mycelium colonized the tyvek filter and came out through the holes.

One thing to note with these is that the myc started off really thin and whispy. It was not hardy looking at all. Then it thickened up to look like what you see in the pictures. Very thick and hardy.

Thanks sporeworks!

Question

now THIS IS intriguing,

Edibles are my passion, but cubes are also. ALL mycology is!!! I'm a mycoholic!

That silver line looked like moisture in the jar between the wall of the cake and the glass...

But i'm clearly out of my depth on this one.. what does the silver line signify brothers??

oh, and hippy, is buckeroo still around? I miss the brother.

Be well brothers,

Skolla (AKA Fingers)

Those are some rockin looking jars 8

I grow the blue oysters as well. They sure are a beautiful shroom. Are you going to move them to a straw substrate?

3 holes drilled. One covered with silicone and tvek under the lid. Never had the myc just jump out like that.

The silver line is moisture and it sits right at the grain/air interface. Everything above that line is nothing but glass and mycelium.

Those have already been spawned to straw tubs and colonization was complete at about day 5. I'll update with pics soon. Should have some fruit in a few days.

The set up is dub tub.

ive seen pictures in books of oyster myc literally blowing the tops off sealed jars....its pretty freakin aggressive.
try sauteing the mushrooms in bacon fat, shallot, and fresh tarragon, then deglazing with white wine or white anisette and wilting in spinach at the end of the sauteing process.

Heehee. I wish I could make my polyfill look so neat and tidy.

The mycelium of this species is not as hardy aand thick as cubes but it sure is aggressive after it gets to rolling.

it is - and it is one of my favorite ways to consume oysters....preferably with some type of chargrilled meat tucked delicately underneath the mushrooms and spinach.

I'm looking forward to the pics. The strain I grow is also very aggressive. But it seems to take some time to fruit after full colonization. Mine are all grown in bags of inoculated straw. I'll be interested in seeing how long till fruiting.
Mine are about 4 weeks from inoculation.
