this is what I was told a cold-pack canner is? Hope this pic is clear enough- No seal _ filled with water- put jars in wire ring- lower ring into water, then not sure how to use? Used for canning veggies?

COLD PACK -

Canning procedure in which jars are filled with raw
food. "Raw pack" is the preferred term for describing this
practice. "Cold pack" is often used incorrectly to refer
to foods that are open-kettle canned or jars that are
heat-processed in boiling water.

Ive never used my coldpack canner for sterilizing substrate but I do use it to pasturize straw.
