![]() | picking shrooms
hey my entire jar is covered with small shrooms it seems quite hard to twist them out by hand, without squeezing the neighbour shrooms and the substrate should i cut them off with a knife? or should i pick them by hand? pics coming soon |

I always just pluck them off the best I can by hand. Some strains seem to twist off easier then others, while others just rip up clumps of casing or substrate when you pull them. Using scissors or a knife though will most always leave some of the shroom attached, which can contaminate later. Bottomline, just pluck them with your hands, thats what I do anyways.

Pick 'em by hand and then cut off the dirty bottom if you don't want to clean it. As mentioned above, you don't want to leave anything on the cake/sub that can rot (mushies rot as quickly as they grow). A chunk of sub removed is better than a chunk of mushroom left to rot... FOAF grabs them and twists/tugs until they come loose. Certain strains come off really easily, others will always rip up a big chunk of substrate.

but he was not spamming. don't be a dick. you might benefit by listening to the replies people give even if the topic meanders a bit, and so too others might benefit. so we aren't 'topic nazis' here, we let threads meander a bit as long as there is some relevance.
