![]() | Been Gone for a while but I'm Still Kicken! Hello All... Nice to be back here again.. I have been away from the comunity for a while, and its about damn time that I come back.. I guess I'll start with my latest projects. First: I'm working on some agar plates, trying to isolate some nice mycelial growth. Using Shitake (B+ and HAW strains) And I have about 36 quart jars that contain WBS that was soaked overnight and PC'd for 70 MIN, then Multispore with the HAW strain and Agar transfer for the B+ strain. I have a few jars that are completely colonized, and have begun to pasturize straw for the spawn run. I will be using a worm poo and straw mixture, then cased with verm and coir. Then its time to go in the mini greenhouse I have purchased from a local gardening store and riged with a humidifier and timer. Here are a few pics..... BTW.. Hippie!!! You've done good with the place... nice to see your still more respectable than shrommerwhore.org.. lol (all in fun) |

![]() | Yesterday I used my turkey frier to pasturize some straw. I let it hang on my patio in order to drain. Today I began by mixing the straw and some "SUPER" worm castings. Ha Ha Im not exactly sure why their called "super", but thats what was on the bag. Then I added the quarts of WBS. and covered it with aluminium foil, and placed it in the top of my closet where it will begin a spawn run. |

![]() | Well, here are some pics of the current growth on the B+ straw bins. Probably about a week and a half or so and they should be good. We'll see!

![]() | AGHHHAAAA SORRY YOU GUYS!!! I had a bit of trouble with my camera and lost all of my pics from this batch. I manages to snap some photos of the 4th flush from one particular casing. As you can tell by the randomness of location and size of mushroom this was not an isolated strain but a multistrain!(I believe that I allowed the petri dishes to grow for too long!)

![]() | Well I was attempting to so a strain isolation, but, unfortunately i was "called away" for a few months and the original petri dishes grew over (well before I was able to isolate any one single type of mycelium from them. Rather that Just start over. I used these to colonize many jars. ( I have read places that IF you alow the mycelium to over run the entire petri dish that its possible to get more than one strain on to of another.) Sorry if i was misinformed)

![]() ![]() | Welcome back. I use my turkey fryer the same way. When you get contamination on your agar do you isolate away from it in a gb or do you do the agar sandwhich thing. Sandwhiching mycelium and the contam between two slabs of agar will allow the myc to grow through the agar first so the lab tech can grab that newly emerged myc and transfer it. |

![]() | Yes I must say that I stole the fryer idea from Hippie a while ago. And as for contams. I dont even mess witht them.. to the Garbage they go. I have enough spores and agar to keep going.
