    Amazonians on compost BULK

Well I conducted and experiment to see if jars would colonize if you injected sterile water into a PF cake, sucked it out to make a mycelial syringe and used to innoculate more jars. It worked and quite well so I did 22 jars in all. The jars finished so I said hey why not spawn it to a bunch of compost so I did it. I mixed about thirty pounds of compost with a brick of coir and about 3/4 a bag of verm and pasteurized it in two big pots and laid it in two long rubbermaids. This was done November 28 and now the 29th it looks like so more pics to come this is the first terrarium camera died while transferring pics. enjoy

The rubbermaid I am using now for this is kinda short, necessary to fit neatly under a bed. there is a nightlight in the lid for warmth and light but it dries the compost in the middle. Anything wrong with this? it is misted to rehydrate it but you can see the middle where it is brownish.

What are the temps without the light..? It will only heat the upper surface and therefore, not too beneficial..I would keep the light on the outside [for light] of the tub...

temps in the room get to 65, thats what winter in the rockies does with the light it gets to about 70ish sometimes higher in the rubbermaid.

I have started way to many projects at once, I know have 9 quarts of WBS innocced with creepers and another 20 some PF jars at a friends house waiting to either be birthed or spawned. How long will these keep for? i need to wait till some space clears up to grow them out.

So progress has been really slow due to a cold house, any people have solutions for heating two rubbermaids of compost? I looked through the vaults and didn't find anything particularly great, thought of doing a TiT incubator but spending 50-60 bucks on that didn't seem great.

yeah water is dripping onto the substrate, since I put the tubs on heat it has been super humid in there. Is there anyway to prevent this dripping, and what affects does the dripping have?

well larger drips of water will promote contamination... this is why mist is ideal... as for solving the problem id sugest you lower your heat and just wrap your tubs with a blanket... the blanket will simply retain the heat longer thus being able to keep the lower temp and less water dripping... just my 2 cents....
