    Question jar noc question

First I'd like to say thanks to indicaz for posting the thread about self healing injection ports and waterproof bandaids for the jars.

    Now onto my question:

I have made a batch of these lids and PC'ed them the other day. Now that they've cooled, I was wondering how much effort I need to put into sterility when i noc the jars up. I don't live alone and previously I've used the bathroom and removed everything and lysol bombed as well as used a HEPA filter in there. I didn't have any contam problems with that method. However, it's not easy for me to go to all of that trouble and be unnoticed. Would I be ok if i just flame the needle and clean a desk, table or floor?

If you have still air, a mask and gloves,, then flaming or alcohol wipe should be a good prevention measure..

Thanks. I figured that this would be OK but I wanted to confirm suspicions before I ruined some jars and set myself back this go round.

Otherwise what you could do is build a very simple glovebox, with a big cardbox, you carve holes on the sides and one on top, then put some transparent foil over the top hole.

yea, i've considered making one but i have no where to store such an item. As it is my terrarium is quite large. It's stowed away in the closet. Attached is a pic from my first PF cakes.

not too bad but you'd do better if you
applied a full double end casing and got those up off the perlite .

As for myself...I do it in my bedroom. I make sure that there is no dirty clothes around. A mask, gloves and lots of Oust and lysol. I flame and alky wipe between jars.

I tried the glove box thing at first and drove my self insane with it.

Yea, I hadn't read up too much when I made my first attempts. I'm hoping to remedy some mistakes this time.
