    Glove Box

    This is the glove box I made out of a microwave stand and a few other items ,plexi glass,rubber air hose,electrical tape,Silicone,an aqarium light,a computer fan,dust mask,velcrow,filter disk ,duct tape,screws for mounting hinge,and small nuts and bolts to mount plexi glass to hinge.
    I cut two holes in plexi glass using a dremel tool,cut to size with this tool as well.I mounted the hinge to the plexi glass first with silicone,and attached nuts and bolts,I now realized i should have used washers,i had some slight cracking when bolts were tightened but the silicone had saved me somewhat,I plan to fix this,and a few other things such as the whole length of the bottom in velcrow not just the three pieces i have there now .Attach light inside,screwed in place . On one side i then cut a hole about quarter inch smaller than the diamiter of the computer fan.Attached fan with screws.On the fan i placed the dust mask,take elastic off,and i just duct taped it in place,just like it sits on your face.On the inside i placed the filter disk and duct taped into place.I lined all edges of plexi glass with the hosing and taped into place where needed with electrtical tape.I spray the inside with disifectant,and turn on fan. Also I hooked up an adapter plug to the fan and plug into wall...BE CAREFULL WITH THIS PART...if you dont know what you are doing with electrticity find a fan with a cord or get someone who knows what they are doing.This is also where i set my incubator,so i can do my work and there is no travel between the two...

    Its looking good.

    You might want to not turn or even eliminate the fan part of the glove box.

    Those face masks dont do much filtering and having lots of moving air is going to blow stuff all over your work.

    A good performing GB should have almost zero air movement/flow.

    {{{FAN}}}

    Thanks for the tip Pedestrian ,I had put this fan in because I read it somewhere it was ok,and had got the idea off of a few gloveboxes ive seen on the net with a filterd fan set up similar, I ASS U ME D it would have been ok,but even being new to this I too questioned moving air inside the glove box and did my Inoculations with this fan turned off.I did however have it runninng when I sprayed it down inside.and shut off before I put in jars.....Thanks for reply.

    bad idea. The point of a glove box is still air. All fan depletes the purpose, you will have air circulating in there with all sorts of unwanted bacteria. The only filters suitable to filter 99% of air born bacteria are HEPAs, and those run for $100 + and are used with flow hoods. The filter you have will definately let a small amount of bacteria into your GB, anf that small amount will produce unwanted contamanations.
