![]() | I thought I'd report on a project of mine since it is everyone here that has taught me how to grow. (sry for the crap pictures) The mushroom bed growing in the pictures, is growing in a garbage bag, in one of my dresser drawers. It is a really old, 8 month casing that has been sitting in the dark cold, and I decided to case and fruit it a few weeks ago. Wasn't too sure this was even going to work, and the flush isnt that good but still. Made of straw, spawned with BRF Creeper strain, cased with verm/peat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is my drawer filled with jars of goodies In the lower shelf there is a 40W bulb, keepin everything nice and warm in the cold basement.![]() ![]() These are BRF cakes inoculated with SA spore syringe from HighTimes here in Canada, definitely old spores as they took along time to germinate and some jars never did, but its coming along. ![]() The following are inoculated with a jar of colonized rye grain of an unknown strain (also purchased from HighTimes, definitely old jars of mycelium as it takes days for the myc to come alive again, but all jars are commin along very nicely. These are newly created hard wheat berries (2 days old) (used fishtank water to simmer grains in) ![]() These are older hard wheat berry jars, about 5 days old (used fishtank water to simmer grains in) ![]() ![]() These are long grain brown rice jars. My first time trying rice, defiantly the fastest colonizer I've tried so far by a longshot. Just put the colonized grain on top of the rice as it didn't shake around when I tried, they are almost done tho. However I don't know how well this will work as spawn with straw...Any suggestions? Putting it in a blender maybe? I'v also got some new rice jars i just inoculated, using fishwater to simmer the rice in. I have never tried anything with fishwater before, interesting to see what the growth results will be like. ![]() ![]() More to come as everything progresses. ![]() Dev |

![]() | Dry out? No, it really didn't seem to dry out at all. It was a little too moist maybe, and I dry cased it. I haven't watered it at all, and will definitely dunk after the first flush (if it makes it that far). Still seems pretty moist now, the top is drying a little tho. |
