To get big pretty ones like that, do you really need genetic sellection (cloaning them) or is the size and looks a result of a deep substrate and good conditions?

    Nice job either way.

Cloning helps as well as substrate depth and type. Now those in the pics really are not all that big. They are big for the substrate amount. That is a quarts sized tupperware container. I really think using verm in a rez effect really helps with size to.

The substrate consists of about 1 part straw, just a little cream of wheat ( He eye balled it) and about 0.25 parts verm. Then cased with straight fine verm.

    nice 8

a friend of mine has pint jars almost finished
colonizing, he thought about not birthing and
just doing something similar to what you did there.
Did you have any smaller ones at the bottom
that couldn't make it to the top? Or did it not pin on the lower sides?

Yes there was some side pinning. He never worries much about that. Let it go one flush then remove the substrate and pick off the ones on the sides. Or keep the sides covered through out colonization and fruiting.

ITs ground wheat. To eat it you add water and nuke it for about 1 minute. Kind of like grits. It swells and gets soft.

He did not cook it first. He just added it to the pasteurization pot with the straw and verm.
