![]() | New grower, Some concerns Hi everybody, this is my first grow and Im think Im doing ok. But I have some areas in my jar that are concerning me. They look like moisture spots, but Im not exactly sure. So Im gonna put a few pics up and see what you think. You can see where the Myc. stops gowing when it reaches these certain spots. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful!!!!! |

![]() | How old are these jars? So far they look fine, just young. You might consider several things, if time and patience aren't what you have just now. Shake the jars to redistribute the moisture and myscilium? Keep them slightly warmer? How's the air flow? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I can't see much due to pic quality. The first thing I would do is get that foil off of the lid..you'll need some type of FAE for proper growth. What % would u say they are colonized? Giving the jars a good shake would redistribute the moisture. |

![]() | Starting over Ok, Im trying again to get past the incubation period without contams. This time I had a Presto PC, and did my BRF jars in the pc for an hour. While that was going on I cleaned my bathroom where you could eat off the toilet. Then when the fam was down I sprayed it for like 5 minutes with Lysol antibacteria spray. Closed the door and let it settle for a good while, FORBIDING my woman to go use the bathroom. The bathroom actually took place about when the jars were being cooled. So the jars were ready and so was I. Took everything carefully into the bathroom and shut the door behind me. Took my new seringe from GOOD SPORE (a sponser of Mycrotopia) And gave it a good hard shake for awhile. Them flamed the tip and let it cool for each jar, squirting the little bit out after each flaming. Inoced the jars and put in the box in my closet. They are in a cardboard box with a lamp on them now to keep the heat up around 80-82. Thanks fo IDuncan for his help and encouragement, I hope I will succeed this time. Here are some pictures of the FC I built today. Notice the tap for the view glass, will be replaced by silicone tonight. So if I get to birth without contams, Ill update later when I get about %50 colonization in the jars. I have perlite on standby for when Im ready to make the FC functional, debating on a humidifier. Hopefully these Acadian Coast will give me some luck. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | A ten dollar monotub for a glove box is a must for me. I use to use the bathroom too. Cleaning and cleaning, wiping everything off with alcohol, wearing enough gear that I could jump in anthrax and come out with no illness. And you know, my contam rate(with syringes that were bought, I wouldn't think of even trying prints in open air) was still like 60/40. Once I got tired of contams, I bought a cheap GB and BAM. Contam rate now is about....well I don't quite know, I haven't had a contam since...knock on wood... Good luck with those jars. Did you have an inoculation hole, or did you lift the lids? What was/is you method when doing that? |

I had premade holes in the lids for the syringe to go into. Followed the teks I have read pretty much to the tee this last time around. Thanks everyone for the support ![]() | |

![]() ![]() | Well those pics aint the best. I suppose you have taken the lighter growth beneath the thicker to be the contaminant? Like CM said a cheap gb goes a long ways. But really all you are looking for is still air. If you have premade syringes working without a gb should be just fine. How are you flaming? Are you getting the needle red hot? Red hot or for 30 seconds is what you should shoot for when flaming. |

![]() | Well the two with the small spots were after I pced them again, so alot was killed, but I still saw the green spots in there, the middle one had BAD moisture problems at the bottom. Here is a print of a cube I found on the southern east coast. It was in a field and they were lovely. Im sure this print is prolly contamed to hell, but I guess it could be worth a shot. |

![]() | Ok well I didn't feel like searching back for my thread so I decided to make a new one. These are are my like third and fourth attempt at trying. With some advice I bought a pc and the results have been great. These were innoculated with some Acadian Coast. The small ones on the bottom right are the older ones which are moving along nicely, the bigger ones and one small one are the ones I did a while afterwards for backup. But they are all coming along nicely with no contams! So hopefully in about a week I will be birthing the four small ones into my tertarrium. |

![]() | Update Well another week or so into this grow and I have a little update that I thought I would share. Here are some pics of what I have going now. The LC picture sucks I know but I tried, you can see some blobs at the bottom but I don't know if its Myc or not. Looks like spiderwebs to me! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | i would make up some sub using some kind of poo/verm/coir mix. Then I'd crumble the jars into that sub, wait for it to colonize, case it, lots of fresh air exchange and good humidity, if it's all one strain I'd make one big tub. hiwever, lots of different small projects can be cool as well. So far so good SS ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() | IME poo is the easiest way to hold off trich. coir/verm only usually gives me slow growth and green, if i had a grow it would be dirty and filthy. THe only way to hold it back is lots of spawn and at least 1 gallon ziploc of dehydrated poo. per 2 blocks coir, 6.9 cups of verm Go get a couple cow flops break em up and cook em in your oven 170 degrees, or heat em in a zuiploc in water for a few hours , shred em first. There are rez teks and cake grows that I have tried and they always seem to take up lots of space I don't have and ussually go green, I didn't want to work with poo. Hell I saw one guy use penut shells (anyone tried this-- peanut shells) as a bulk sub. Cubes are like a goat. You could also go to a good garden supply store and get a bag of dehydrated, organic, composted, non-burning, cow poo
