On Apr 11 three trays were nocced with two cakes each. This is how it looks one week later. How long till they should be cased?

The straw was sherded, mixed with bagged steer manure and pasturized @ 160 deg for an hour.

Any suggestions for a fool proof casing?

Cant really go wrong with coir/verm at a 30/70 ratio, holds lots of water, is nice and fluffy. Good luck.

Just mix the coir/verm and moisten, is it pasturized?

let it colonize fully.. let it become fully covered with mycelia and give it another 2 days to be sure.. then you can case with pasteurized 30/70 coir verm casing or it can stand alone uncased.. just keep the humidity really high and treat it like a cake if you have it uncased..

Picked up some coir but when the brick was hydrated it looks more like wood chips. I think its too chunky for a casing.
If the tray is cased with just verm dose the verm need to be PC'd or pasturized?

I found that if I case my poo trays, I don't get any fruits on the top/middle, just around the sides. So I just leave my trays uncased.

there is an explaination on why it happens (either overwatering, or Co2 build up, im not sure) around here, in the archive.. ill try to find it.

what do you mean its more like wood chips when you hydrate the coir?
are you hydrating it with really hot water? thats how its supposed to be done. You have the wrong stuff, otherwise.
that tray looks great, myco!! I always weigh my substrate down
and that speeds up colonizing, but give it another 3-4 days and maybe update with another picture and i bet itll be time to case

Id like to get shrooms all over and not just the edges, I remember a thread about dividing the casing in sections and getting a better flush.
Any leads?

i wouldn't divide straw 'cause of its' length,
i think it'd be a pain you-know-where.
it's not easy to get a great set from just any multispore grow,
most of the really awesome pix you see here are using isolates ,
either clones [> cloning <]
or selected off agar for
superior pinning , etc.

now straw is handy-
if you dunk you can get bigger flushes
and more of them.
now by dunk i just mean submerge,
flood for a period of time works for larger nugs.
the trick is properly draining & drying after the dunk,
so no water pools under it.

Found some good coir, 3 trays are cased last night.
I kept them in the incubator, how long should they stay?

Have 3 trays of straw/poo that are fully collinized. They were cased 24 hrs ago with coir verm. How long should they be left in the incubator?
What signs indicate it's time for thr fruit camber?

Incubation duration is usually about 3 days. Once the mycelium is just barely poking through the casing layer it is time to induce fruiting.

The trays were moved today, There are now pins on the cakes that were birthed on 4-11

After the flush how long do you dunk the tray?
Should the casing be removed?

The cakes produced poorly on the first flush, guess thats what happens when they're not dunked at birth.
The cakes have been dunked, rolled in verm and back in the fruiting chamber.
How does rolling in verm compare to DEcase?

The trays are now pinning a second flush. The first flush produced some nice fruits, prints were taken and tissue taken of the largest shroom now in LC.
