![]() | Maztapec Well I started with 1/2pint jars (MSC Substrate Mix) I dont have a pressure cooker so I cant do sterile stuff here. So I bought the jars off a guy I know. I inoculated them near a gas stove with it on. Then placed the jars in my "other" grow room ![]() After a while it colonized pretty quick about 2-3 weeks. There are two jars though that are really slow colonizing. They are not contaminated just slow. I believe I did not place that many spores in it like the others. I think I did 1/4cc or less. I gave a few away to friends and family. I placed the remaining jars in a double container. The outer container holds the water and heating element. I put some anti-fungal in the water. I drilled a really small hole for the wire for the temp guage. The humidity varies a little. From 80-90 sometimes low 70's when I open the container. Though I have not noticed any major diffrences in the amoun of pinheads on the cake. Ohh I also forgot to mention that I did dunk the cakes for about 12 hours. This has made a big diffrence in fluffy mycellium and pin heads forming. I have noticed blue forming when I accidently touched the cake. Some places are really dark blue. On one cake I counted at least 15-20 pins the size of a matchstick head. I wish my cam did not break or I would show my progress. Till my next grow. |

![]() | yes getting my film developed as we speak! Also I noticed that when I raise the temp to 85-87 the pins grow faster. I have read that people are dropping the temp to 78-79 when I do this. It pins but they grow really slowly. Its not even the humidity. WHen I drop the temp the humidity stays around 85 or so. When I increase it the humidity does go to 90 or more. I know this has a factor. But Mazatapec LOVES warm temps. Today a pin was around 1/2 inch now its more then an inch. Getting pictures. Will be placing some soon |
