mushroom spawn

What exactly is mushroom spawn . I see people selling these 5 pound bags and they say you can innoculate the bag and either

"You can use this to generate spawn or fruit mushrooms directly; depending on your species."

How do I make a spawn? Do I wait till the bag is colonized and then take it out and place that into a larger 20-25 pound rye grain to make more mushroom mycellum for fruiting? I am asking this information because I want to do some large scale grows. And want to find a faster and more efficiant way to produce larger amounts. Any ideas?

The idea is to break up the bag after it's colonized and use it to spawn a bulk substrate like horse poo and straw.

You can use colonized grain to inoculate other grain, but most people do this with quart jars. Grain to grain transfers need to be done under sterile/still-air conditions or you'll contaminate the whole mess.

perfect. Yes I am planning a two 55 gallon inoculation. Using some 1/2 gallon jars. I shall post pictures.
