| Couple more pix ...Most of the first flush is up now ,the second is due in 3 weeks...One pic showing the edge effect.. Third pic is the newer patch made from clones only..The two rings are producing similar amounts of fruit.. After the second flush , i will compare dry weights from MS patch and Clone patch... Think the next should be larger as the mycelium grows faster with the warming temps... |

| Geeeez! I would sooo like to munch these! One day! :] You're da man, golly I'm only wondering why are they fruiting in april? Where do they come from actually? What's the best type of climate for them? Can they be grown with Azures? Azures fruit usually in autumn, right? So many questions... I just love'em hehe :].

| Thanx guys... Yes, these are spring blooming woodmunchers ..They should do well in places with a moist, continental, temperate climate [cold winter warm summer] ... Cyans and Azures prefer a cool marine climate to fruit with minimal effort ,so may not be too compatible.... If anyone would like to trade for a print of these - lemme know... ... |

| Dayum! My compost is really looking good. Really good. Hopefully summer will hold off long enough for these to fruit. Rhizomorphs damn near to the surface. Thanks for the print hookup golly!

| Your welcome Laz.. Spring is remaining cool in the East, so u may get lucky..Recent rains have stimulated more fruit. Here's a couple more pix... A week ago i watered the patch with a very weak solution of molasses and cooked nutritional yeast extract..Can't really tell if it's helping but it's not hurting.. Last year the second flush began May 16 or a week later - Global warming. ![]() The other patch [clones] has been kind of sporatic - just popping here and there since last flush..Still time for action though... |

| Sweet! The anticipation was bothering me because I didn't do so much of great job making the bed. No pasteurization and only one quart of spawn. So I started scratching down a bit with my fingers and hit rhizos about a 1/2 inch down on one end of the patch and maybe an inch down on the other end. I thought I had the patch more level than that. Looks good regardless. I just hope temperatures will hold down for another 2-3 weeks. Appears they're going to, but around here it will be like it is now and then kaboom! Hotter than hell. ![]()

| yeah, they are set right up. i will be spawning mine to beach sawdust and chips this weekend hopefully. if that doesnt come through, there is a sawmill that mainly works with oak. will that be good? i know oak has alot of tannins and stuff in it. where you been mycobri? about how much wood should i use for 5 half pints to get a good start on a bed? thanks. |

| The Oak should be good, especially if you can get smaller slivers and chunky sawdust.. Landscape companies often carry mixed hardwood chips for mulch too. If your patch is protected you can directly spawn outside ..Otherwise, best to mix in a tray first and colo that ..When it's done , all the Grains will have been consumed and it wont be so attractive to critters.. I go 1:3 ratio in the tray then 1:6 outside.. If you go much higher , you may have competing fungi move in... |

| many thanks i would probably have a problem with the birds, mice, rabbits and squirrels getting to it. i have 1 piece of rabbit wire i can put over the top but thats about it. i think i will colonize the wood first. its protected as far as sun and weather goes though. north side of the house bordered by cedars in the east and west. |

| Here's a picture of Ovoid mycelium colonizing a rye grass seed at 60x... A stem butt was placed on a bed of these boiled seeds to test for a method to rapidly expand a new colony.. The seeds are pretty contam resistant ...No conclusion yet though... |

| Think this is the 3rd and final fruiting for this season... The original bed, started 2 years ago from MS, produced about 30% more fruit than the cloned patch, created last summer.. Could be other variables at work effecting total harvest, so can't draw any conclusions yet... |

| Nicely done ! Very inspiring. I made a bed of P. Ovid today using willow chips. Hopefully if all goes well i'll use this as a mother-bed to spawn other beds in other locations. cheers H
