Thumbs up South American & Mexi Pal * Bulk * Grow Log

This Is The First Attempt At Bulk . First , Spores Were Attained From A Reputable " Experenced " Person . Then Twenty PF Cakes Were Made Up . The Mixture Included , For Ten Cakes ... Four Tablespoons Of Bee Pollen , Flax Seed , Cottonseed Meal , Nutritional Yeast , And Spring Water Was Used. Then, 2/3rds Cup Of Vermiculite , 1/4 Cup Of Water And A 1/4 Cup Of Organic Brown Rice Flour Was Mixed Into A Bowl , Throughly. Then Placed Into Wide Mouth Half Pint Jars . Then The Dry Vermiculite Barrier Was Added . Pressure Cooked At 15 psi For 75 Min. Innoculated The Next Day With The Print Obtained. Syringes Were Made By Adding 60 cc's Of Distlled Water To The Print Bag , Sucked Up Each Syringe Separate , Then Innoculated Untill The Jars Were Done. Incubated For About 18 Days. 5 Of The Cakes Of Each Strain Were Cut Up into Small Pieces . The Other 5 Cakes Of Each Were Fruited As Is With A DEC' .
    • After Cutting Up The 5 cakes , A Mixture Of 50 % Cut Pieces Of Straw , 20 % Coir , 20 % Vermiculite And 10 % Shredded Horse Manure Was Mixted In A Large Pot. Added 4 Tablespoons Of Pickling Lime , Then Mixture Was Pasturised At 170 Deg. For 2 Hours .
The Crumbled Cakes Were Then Layered Into Two Seperate Tubs. The PLastic Is The Mexi Pal , South Ameican Is The Glass Dish. Substrate Is About 3 1/2 Inches Thick . After Incubating For Around Ten Days , Both Were Cased With 50 / 50 % Coir & Vermiculite. About 1/4 " . After Casing And Misting Well , Bin Was Put Directly Into Fruting Chamber. The First Pin's Appeared About Ten Days Later !!! Enjoy

This Is The South American Cakes , & Bulk Substrate , They Were Fruited At 82 Deg. And Kept In A Large Bin With Pearlite . Givin Fresh Air Every 2 Hours Or So... I Love This Strain !!! I Can Say That This Is My Favorite Of All The Strains Studied So Far. Nice Thick Stems And There Solid.

    South American ...

Cropping & Pre Harvest Pictures . Fruits Were Harvested Early Due To Not Wanting Spore's Flying All over Substrate. Prints were Also Taken Right After Viels Broke And Came Out Very Dark. Messed Up The First Few Due To Trying To Keep Everything Sterile. Prints Were Taken On Heavy Duty Foil And Put INto A Small Tupperware Bin So Air Doesnt Get To Them. I Didn't Achieve The Best Pinset But ... This Is The First Try At Bulk And I Didn't Have Experence With Mixture Ratios . Just Tried To Keep It Simple With Ingredients That Might Cause Harm. Went Heavy With The Less Nutritious Ingredients Like Straw & Coir. I Guess It Payed Off .

Getting Better At Making Prints ...

First Attempt At Collecting Spores A Few Months Back Was Confusing . I Learned To Wait A Few Hours After The Viel Broke... Not Seeing Any Dark Color Under The Cap After Decapitation , I Thought ... No Spores ? After A Few Nice Prints Were Missed Out On , I Then Learned That I Should Let The Fruit Open Fully & Then Wait A Hour Or So , Then Collect The Print .

    Great job!!!!

I am a lover of the mex-pals. They can be small in stature, but will flush full clusters of shrooms in a pretty fast time span. I found horse manure made them largest.

Your South American's look tasty! Very nice!

Second Flush South American Cakes ...

Here Is The First Four SA Cakes , Dunked For 12 Hours And Cased Again With Fresh Coir / Vermic. Took About 7 Days To Pin Again But They Came Out Pretty Well . Not As Good As The First Flush But Still Great outcome. Well Try For A Third But Might Leave The Casing On And Dunk Carefully . Have Had Good Results Doing It This Way Sience The Mycilium Might Not Be Vigerous Enough To Colonise The Casing.

    The Straw Chunk ...

This Is The Mexi Pal Taken Out Of Its Container , And Dunked. The Casing Was Scraped Off And Left As Is Sience The Humidity Is 100 % In The Fruiting Chamber. It Didn't Give Near As Many Fruits But They Were Pretty Large. Making Prints Also.

    South American Cakes ...

Wow , I Wasn't Expecting To Get This Many Flushes Out Of These. They Are On # 4 Now And Doing Great. I Have Found That Changing The DEC' ing After The First Flush , And Then Keeping The Casing On The Rest , Makes For Better Flushes . It Seems That The Mycillium Doesn't Have Its Aggressiveness After Flush # 2 . So Keeping The Casing & Making Sure To Remove All Of The " Aborted " Small Pins Before Dunking " Distilled Water " Can be Benifitial . I Also Make Sure To Sterilize The Casing Mix B4 Putting Onto Cakes. I Try As Much As Possible Not To Take The Cakes Out Of The Fruiting Chamber. Also Washing My Hands B4 Touching Them So That Mold And Bacteria Don't Have Much Of A Chance Of Getting A Hold On The Cakes.

    # 4 And Still Going ...

Heres The End Of The 4 th Flush Of The South American Cakes , And Mexi Pal. One Cake Ended Up Up - Side Down From Pins Forming Under The Lid It Sits On , Ended Up Looking At It Pushing Up And Wondering What the hell ??? So It was Put On Its Side To Finish. I Hope To Get A Good Digital Camera To Take Better Pic's . This Camera Phone Just Doesn't Do Justice ... I Will Get One More And Let Theese Guys Go To The " Grave Yard " A Few Days Ago I Made a Pit Lined With Bricks About 4 Inches Deep In The Back Yard. It Was Then Lined With Straw Soaked In Poo Water . All The Previous Cakes , Any Half Colo'd Cakes & The Two Bulk Grows With Straw ' Sa & Mp Both Were Crumbled Up And Layered . Today, Another Layer Of Straw / Crumbled Poo Was Put Over the Growing Mycillium And It Seems To Be Connecting Nicely . Watered Again Lightly and Im Thinking This Monday , I Will Remove The Plywood Cover To Let Light Penetrate. Im Curious To See Which Strains Will Prevaill Or Will All Of Them Fruit Together ?

More Pics " South American ...

Also , A Picture Of The Outside Bed Made With Straw / Horse Manure . In Between The Two Layers Of Straw Is 5 Or So Half Colo. Cambodian Cakes , South Ameican & Mexi Pal Cakes And Other Spent Cakes. Mycillium Is Coming Together Nicely And Hopefully Will Fruit In The Next Week Or So. I Dont Know What Triggers An Outdoor Bed To Fruit And How Much The Mycill. Needs To Be Colonised In The Bed ? We Will See And Toady The Plywood Is Coming Off So Light Will Be Introduced. The Temps Have Been In The Upper 80's And 60's At Night. Humidity Is In The 80 % range.

    Looks great Myco!

Water your outside bed if nature doesn't provide rain. A nice mist with the hose will work wonders.

    Thanks for the kind words.

    I agree.
This is much more than a hobby, it's a way of life.
It's very important that humans cultivate and share Psilocybe cubensis.
