    Azure bed 4th year

This is a continuation of the azure bed created in 2005

    http://forums.mycotopia.net/exotic-m...05-merged.html (Azure attempt 2005 [merged])

This is the fourth season the azure bed has flushed.

Last year's flush was pretty poor due to weird weather and the bed hadn't been fed since it was created. This year the bed was fed new alder chips along with some oak wood stove pellets and then covered over with straw.

The bed usually doesn't start flushing for another week or two, but due to unusually early cooler, wet weather, the fruits are already starting to appear.

Here's the first cluster to pop up, this photo was taken a couple days ago.

    azure-bed-4th-year-azure_cluster_4th_year.jpg

It's already grown a bit and more pins are visible every day.

Congrats you have the most sought after mush growing right in your own yard, i consider you Mycopimp! If only you posted the latitude and longitude of that azure bed, i'd be able to munch on some!

    just kidding.

I wish they'd grow in my area, i don't think they will though, i'd do the same thing.
hardiness zone 8 isn't very myco friendly.

The weather has been cool, but is also dry so the bed gets watered.

Awesome ! Thanks for the pics.

I have a couple different Azure beds but they don't look like they are going to fruit this year. Because of this I have added more chips all around them and lifted handfuls of colonized chips into the edges. There's good growth in there so i'm hoping that it really spreads in spring.

It's a long process but I enjoy it. Even just checking out the mycelium is fufilling.
