Hey hey! I just wanted to start off with a big thanks to all of you! This truly is an amazing forum, and I really appreciate all the knowledge that is shared. ![]() Well here's what my FOAF is working with.. ![]() He decided to start with some LC and go from there.. most likely the LC will be used on WBS. After a few days of collecting all the equipment he was finally ready to begin. He started by making a glovebox.. using a rubbermaid storage box, two PVC connectors, silicone(clear RTV silicone sealant), and a pair of cleaning gloves. He cut two circles that where the size of the connectors out of one side, shoved the connectors in, and put a layer of silicone on the inside and outside of storage box. After letting that dry, he pulled the gloves over the connectors and sealed the two together using some silicone. He then started making the jars for the LC, using h3's airport/rtv silicone lids. ![]() One jar was filled with 400 ml distilled water, 15 ml karo, and 15 ml honey. The other jar had 400 ml distilled water and 15 ml karo. My FOAF does own a older styled PC(no psi settings/gauges), but decided not to use it this time. Instead both jars where put in the oven at 300 degrees for about 50 min. ![]() After jars cooled down he setup everything in the glovebox. He first injected the airport syringe to release pressure, and then used about 2cc for each jar. ![]() Jars where then transferred to TiT. He's using a tetra aquarium heater that sucks. Temperature is hanging between 74-76 degrees.. with the damn thing running all day. So he's hoping you guys have a reccomended heater. This is his first attempt.. he's making two more LC jars with some GT spores, but he wants to figure out how to use his PC first. Updates will be posted regularly.. Thanks again guys |

So there where some issues with the TiT, temperatures where really low. There was very little growth going on.. so my buddy bought a different aquarium heater and temps have been a constant 82 degrees since yesterday. I can't believe how fast its been growing since. My buddy made two more LC jars today.. and is excited to see the difference with the steady temperatures. Here's a picture of the jar who had very little growth yesterday.. and this is after a day with the better temps. |

Hey guys, Just have a quick question.. there's definitely growth going on, slow, but growing. I remember reading somewhere that shaking the jars to much will cause "retarded" growth? So my FOAF has been swirling it instead.. Can the jars be shook or not? Also, he's using silicone lids.. the jars are about half full, is that enough air? Or should he stick the airport syringe in every once and a while? thanks~ Here's the same jar that I posted earlier.. |

id let em keep goin...ive had some i thought stalled but i needed to get more air and warmer temps. i put mine in once and a while but ive changed my mind i get faster growth when i leave the airport in and less chance for contams.

Hey lookin good so far. I myself have a few bags of pe, and gt about ready to fruit. For the airport Yes polyfill filters all the contams and just lets them breath. nothing gets in Id leave it in all time aint nothing to worry about. Good luck

Hello hello.. Not to much going on. Its hard for me to tell if the first jar has been growing any.. I think it has a little. When should my buddy start thinking about making syringes? I'm also posting some pictures of the other LC's that are about 6 days old.. Here's the one that's about 10 days old.. ![]() Here are the other two that are about 6 days old.. ![]() |

FOAF knocked up 6 wide mouth pint jars (only size available a.t.m.) with LC. The jars are filled with brf, vermiculite, and distilled water. They're now inside the TiT that's hanging around 80/82 degrees.. So not to much going on yet. I just had a quick question for you guys, I've read in quite a few places that the pint sized jars take forever to colonize, I'm actually leaving mid march for a big hiking trip.. I should be disconnected for 3+ months. Do I have any chance of the jars getting fully colonized before then? I'm hoping that the LC sped things up a little.. |

I think you can get your jars fully colonized by then, and a flush or two. But I don't think you have the time to get everything that you possibly could out of your colonized jars. Not a huge deal since you obviously have a handle on creating your own supply, but something to think about. On a side note, I think those are some of the best LC pics I have ever seen. Getting good pics of LC's is notoriously hard, and you knocked it out of the park. ![]() Pic of the month nominee...If I remember when the time comes for Feb. |

Flush or two? sweeeet ![]() And thank you for that complement!! I try ![]() I actually just had a flashlight shine through the bottom of the jar.. and turned of the lights, camara seemed to focus alot easier. p.s. I was going through some of the topic's you started.. and came across that ("Battle at Kruger" Have you seen this video?)Battle at Kruger video. WOW! That was insane |

Hey man yeah the lc looked great. But im not sure man I know using the lc is gonna speed stuff up real good. Your looking at leaving in a month and change. With 1pint and not half may take up to 3 weeks maybe even a month, but then you gotta birth and wait till they do there thing. So you might be pushing it close. Although maybe FB said you might get a flush. If not def make some more lc if you can, and put it in the fridge also till you get back In any case sending fast grow vibes your way. Good Luck.

I'm definitely pushing it close.. but guess what! I just checked my temp's in the TiT because I had set it a little higher earlier, and saw a little bit of growth!! I only checked one jar, don't want to mess around to much while its still growing.. I'll probably check all of them in two days or so. Quote:

Hey thanks for asking. My bags are done now, but im kinda in the same spot as you. Im going outta town sunday for a week so not as bad, but gonna let them in the bags till i get back they been finished and shoulda birthed em all within the past week. But they should hold out. Anyways with yours man def dont birth them early cause your rushed if you would they stand a huge chance of contaming, cause even if the outside is done dont mean the inside is.

Thanks guys! Stuff is going good, no contaminants so far.. ![]() definitely going to wait till last possible moment to birth them, still not completely sure if they will be done.. it doesn't help that there PE's either ![]() I might even do a few invitro and take them on trip with me, haha maybe.. Here's a picture of one of the jars, pretty much all five jars have similair growth near inoculation points.. ![]() On a side note, here's one of the four LC jars. This jar was actually the first to be inoculated. This jar was karo + honey, jar didn't look to good after few days.. and showed very little growth. I'm not sure if this is mycelium growing in there. The water is very murky/dusty, Anyways here's a picture of the jar.. |

Hey hey! thanks guys.. I think they're almost done. Here's a few picture's.. I actually have some more time now, so I was thinking about maybe crumbling up a few of the jars and spawning it to something.. any recommendations? ![]() ![]() Some of the jars are covered with rhizomorphic growth.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() No contams yet! |

Looks like you've done this a few times to me. Great pictures, you work the camera well too. 18 days to 90% or so....not too shabby at all. Everything looks clean and professional. Another job well done

Thanks guys definitely would not have made it this far without all the info you guys share.Well I was really excited about posting today.. I have been waiting on two jars to fully colonize, but they are taking there sweet ass time. While three of the other jars have been done for almos a week now. So I decided to birth them tonight.. Here's the problem.. they don't come out . I used "ball wide mouth" jars.. but they still will not come out. Soo I'm thinking about trying to smash the jars.. but the damn glass is so thick. I'm scared of smashing the cakes. Anybody been in similair situation? What did you do?THANKS |

Sometimes it takes a hard bang on a counter, other times banging it on your gloved hand, and even pulling it out. There have been times when I packed my jars a little too tight and had the same issues. Or you can just spoon it out and spawn.

If your trying to keep the cakes intact a PC'd butter knife (wrapped in tinfoil) works in a pinch. Also leaving the jars a few days after what looks like full colonization will cause them to shrink a wee bit.

Well just got done guys.. I ended up smashing the jars, cakes came out great. They felt pretty spungy, definitely not dry.. so I'm only going to dunk them for a few hours. I'll post some pic's tonight when I put them in the FC.. getting really really excited man. I actually saw my first pin in one of the dry vermiculite barriers.. |

PS Awesome pics! I was able to compare my LCs to yours and see what was supposed to be normal (first time for LCs for me). Great growlog youve got going here. I wish they tasted as good as they smelled!

Yes, definitely getting some half-pint for next time.. I don't think I damaged the cakes to much, I saw a little bit of blue on them though. Glad the pictures where usefull, and thanks for the complement. ![]() Alright well cakes are in FC.. I dunked them for about 8? hours. Then I double-end cased them. So stoked at whats to come, still haven't had any trouble with contams, really hope it stays that way ![]() ..dunked ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hallo! Need some expertise on cobweb.. I checked on my two tubs today, and they look pretty good. I know I'm probably being paranoid, but the growth looked pretty wispy.. I tried getting as close as I could to take some pictures. I was just hoping somebody could let me know if it looks "normal". The tubs have been in a TiT at around 80 degrees.. Here's some pictures.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More pins are appearing on the cakes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If it was pans it would look normal , but for cubies ... not so much. Looks like your humidity might be quite high or the surface of your cakes to moist. You can try giving a fine mist of diluted hydrogen peroxide on the cobweb. Also make sure you have lots and lots of FAE holes (tyveked or polyfiled). Maybe try in the future misting on the walls of the fruiter rather than right on the cakes , if your not already. You could also fan a lot after treating the cakes with peroxide. A search for cobweb will reveal many threads about the subject. Good luck.

Thanks for that hyphaenation.. I looked up alot of cobweb threads, but its ofton described being "grayish" and also coming of the substrate a few inches, so I really wasn't sure if it actually was. Anyways cakes are going good, just posting some pictures to follow the growth. Pins are showing up everywhere.. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
