![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | PE6 on Wheat and Popcorn
Here are some pictures of PE6 on whole wheat berries and popcorn. They were inoculated on 7/26 with a heavy multispore solution and the wheat jars were shaken yesterday. To prep the wheat and popcorn I soaked overnight (about 10-12 hours) then simmered for 30 mins, rinsed for a couple of minutes with hot water then put in a towel to drain. Jars have silicone injection port, and about a 1/2" hole stuffed with polyfil. I don't have a drill, so to make my holes I took a screw and made a starter hole, then I twisted a pair of scissors in the hole to make it larger. They didn't come out perfectly round, but it hasn't mattered so far. The popcorn is not colonizing nearly as fast as the wheat berries for me. Dunno if it is just the genetic variation, moisture content or difference in grain. I think I'm going to spawn to castings and straw net, but I'm not really sure where to find straw net locally. BTW- First timer here!

Popcorn got contaminated with the green culprit: HAIR. I had my hair pulled back when I made the jars to. Oh well, it just got spawned to unpasteurized straw and castings outside. I put it in a 6" flower pot and wrapped a Walmart bag around it. It is in a shed with almost no light coming in.Question- Should I put a casing on it since it's outside? I have both straw and potting soil that I could case with. I just don't want to have to water it often.

Thats awesome kcmoxtractor!! I am especially excited for you on this grow. I used PE6 on my first grow too. I was very skeptical with what my results would be, but lets just say 5 weekends tripping in a row has made MissCakes and I very happy. BRF method BTW. Very nice strain IMO, (not like I have anything to compare to) LOL. I'm glad to see you wasted NO time getting growing. Much good vibes to you. I wanna send a shout out to Catdaddy for being the pimp of possibilities. holla

Yeah, first time with me behind the wheel. I had a guy who let me spectate the whole process multiple times, so I wasn't a complete newb. Yeah Truth I got that print in and hydrated it immediately, then started soaking my grain as soon as I was done with that. Thanks for the luck guys, I'm sure they know you're pullin' for them.

Pictures of the wheat jars pictures 1&2, 3,4&5, 6&7 same jar. Pretty nice rhizomorphs showing all over the jar. Stretching off the top of the grains also. How long you think until they are ready?

Those look healthy as could be! I'm pretty sure I heard in chat tonight that you spawned them. I can't really help you cause I've never used that grain but look at those Rhizos! You are gonna get a killer flush!

Thanks! They are some happy little buggers! They got spawned to a bulk sub tonight around midnight. Castings and straw at about a 1:1 ratio, spawn to bulk about 1:1.5 ratio. Small dubtub with 20 nickel holes for FAE. It is about 2.5" deep. Pasteurized the bulk sub in the oven for 3 hours at 200 (lowest setting). Let it cool for 5 hours while I went to work. When I got home I cleaned the room I was using for spawning and supplies very well and started work. I put the small dubtub with black trash bag liner under an overhang and inside of a larger tub so I only had a small space to put my arms in. Thoroughly disinfected the air and pulled the sub out of the oven and dumped it in the trash bag. Closed the bag quickly and tapped my jars to break the grain. Dumped all 3 jars into the sub and closed bag around my arms. I mixed by feel until it seemed uniform, took a quick peek in to make sure of this and then sealed it up again, sprayed lysol and shut the tubs. Covered in black trash bag and left on the dryer. Now the wait begins!

14.5 hours later and it's recovering well! Sorry for the shitty pics, but I don't have a cable for my camera and didn't want to put my laptop in the tub. These are the POAPs (pics of a pic).

Checked the tub again today, had been 24 hours since I last saw it. All I have to say is wow what a difference a day can make! Attached pictures show yesterday's and today's growth. It has tripled in size from the inoculation grains!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To fruit or not to fruit?
That is the question. Should I put this into fruiting tomorrow morning, or should I wait another couple of days? There are rhizomorphs covering the entire top, and the couple of spots that are uncolonized have a really bumpy texture. Next question, since I have this smaller dub tub in a large single tub, should I line the large tub with perlite to keep the humidity up? I actually think that I might have made too many holes in the dubtub and the humidity isn't high enough... Going to use diffused natural light and fairly constant FAE from a fan on the other side of the room. If i use perlite, should I leech it first since it says on the bag it has some nitrogen content?

They went into fruiting on 8-15, at around noon. Hyphal knots were noticed yesterday covering the surface of the substrate. FAE was increased to constant by uncovering the extra hole in the glovebox they are sitting in. I added perlite to the bottom of the GB to increase the humidity to an acceptable level. The little black spot in the upper right corner is where a little bit of the trash bag came through the bulk sub.

This isn't the original PE, it is PE6. I got it in a trade from a friend, I don't think that I will be equipped to print by the time that the first flush is ready, I may try, but I will keep the first batch of prints since I don't want to trade contams. Welcome to Mycotopia KTBR, you should stick around a while and get the trading privileges that the other members have gotten. We have plenty of contests and members that are willing to trade once you have been around a while

So I have my first pins on the tub I have counted about 30 total, and a lot of the hyphal knots are swelling up as well. A majority of the the pins are on the side of the tub, does this mean anything significant about my conditions?Took pictures of the more noticeable ones, the rest will come when they are more visible.

Careful with the plastic bag - try to get it as taught as possible, when I used garbage bags I found some pockets of bad news due to the bag slack. Other than that looks congrats bud!

That's not too bad for a first time with PE. IMO, you should have started with a Cube that's easier, but I guess you're still getting something. Oh, and even if you can't get a print, you can always clone a nice one to LC.

Yeah bunny I actually inoculated one other quart jar with the leftovers of that EQ syringe that you messed around with last year, and the quart still isn't fully colonized. I am sincerely thinking about doing that LC clone, I don't think it would be too bad since I already have two LC's sterilized but not in use. Now on to the good stuff!

Here are some pictures from tonight, the veils are breaking on some of the larger fruits. It is very strange that the PE6 that these came from don't resemble the original PE in the shape of the cap, but these do...

Dude, get your fingers out of it. Put on some gloves. I know it's colonized, but bulks still get contaminated sometimes.

Harvested my first mushroom yesterday! Weighed 5.2 grams wet, but it took me about 30 minutes to weigh it from when I picked it, because I don't have scales. A good portion of the rest of the flush will be ready in the next day or so.

One batch might be texish, one may be penisy. This is due to multispore inoc. Not 100% sure, but hey, it sounds good. Either way, nice grow thus far.

Hell yeah number of the beast! picked a second that is way meatier than the first!I am gonna make some cardboard clones for these... I think I want to try my hand at a little outdoor tubbing now ![]() The stems on these are solid! That one has been drying for about an hour now, and I cut it with a razor.

First seven out of the tub, there are about 14 or so more still growing. Pinset was not completely even, any tips on getting it timed more proper?

Oh I did drop it to initiate pinning, I placed it in the floor by the window for two days after full colonization. The average temperature difference from where they are to the floor is ten degrees. They received filtered natural light and got FAE whenever the air vents kicked on also.

Yeah, I need to be better equipped to take clones by the time next time rolls around also. I think if I started working with proven clone material that would make pinning a lot more even also. Different substrains probably fruit at different speeds.
